My new horse is underweight so Im planning on giving her 3 small feeds a day. She will also be turned out in a field with a decent amount of grass and have hay.
Im thinking of giving her 6 x stubbs scoops of Alfalfa A Oil, 1 x stubbs scoop No 4 Topline cubes and 1/2 stubbs scoop of speedi-beet. That will be over 3 meals. Does that sound ok?

also in NL2

Per feed I would give 1 scoop of Alfalfa Oil, 1/2 scoop of topline nuts and 1/2 scoop of speedi beet and as much hay as she can eat, I would also give her a supplement like Equivite Body Builder or Baileys Outshine.

What sort of size horse is she? It's better to weigh your feed rather than just go by scoop size... Although I think Dengie and Baileys give you a guide to how much a Stubbs scoop will weigh on the side of the bag. The No 4 sounds like it could do with being slightly more than just the one scoop. But that's going on how much I used to have to feed of it!

As a thought, Alfa-Beet may be an alternative to Speedi-Beet. I've had more success with that anyway.

[/ QUOTE ] Speedibeet contains more calories than AlfaBeet, so if you switch from Speedibeet to AlfaBeet you need to feed more to get the same amount of weight gain.

Alfa Beet does contain more protein than Speedibeet, but if you are feeding Alfa A Oil anyway that will contribute plenty of protein in itself.
