I've just used a double dose of Strongid P. Used to use Equitape before it vanished from the shelves.

I use the tapeworm tester that you swab in their mouths. This is from Westgate Labs. Often you wont need to worm for tape worm which is what Pramox covers as well as red worm etc.

not your problem op, if you have no worming history and the horse has come from ireland

In those circumstances I would use the 5-day wormer, Panacur Equine Guard in the first instance and then treat later for anything not covered by that, if worm counts showed that was necessary.

I looked up a post that I made on a previous thread. It’s the combination of both moxidectin and praziquantel in a single dose that causes the issues. Standalone praziquantel for tape is bizarrely no longer available, although you can still get it in combination with other wormers eg Pramox, Equimax (with ivermectin).
SQPs have known about the Pramox colics for several years now, it’s not new.

I lost a horse to colic 24 hours after worming with Pramox. It was a horse I bred and it had been regularly wormed all its life. Pramox will never get used in my yard again.
