Ok, I only ever post here about my horses legs, but honestly I'm not neurotic!
My horse was diagnosed by mri scan with arthritis of coffin joints. She is due back in gentle work this week (after various treatments), but tonight when I get her in from field she has been slightly hooning round - probably cantered up and down 3 or 4 times. Now one leg has a strongish digital pulse and slight heat swelling. Does this sound like a symptom of an arthritic joint to you? I am starting to wonder if something else might be going on as well - would arthritic joints react like that to sudden exercise?
And next Q is, if so, I am starting to lose all faith in my vets , and can anyone recommend an equine vet in South Oxon/Berks area??

I dont know for sure, but would assume that she has maybe inflamed/aggravated the arthritis and that the inflamation has resulted in the pulse, heat and swelling????

I would assume that if MRI has shown arthritis then its there for sure

My horse has an arthritic knee and I try to minimise any chance of him hooning about in the field because sudden twists and turns etc. do tend to make him worse.

When the arthritis was in its early stages though he was more prone to lameness through hooling. Now it's more established he's a bit more stable, but I give him one Danilon per day.

As you horse's arthritis is in the foot though I don't know whether hooning would result in swelling up the leg.

I'm in Berks, South Oxon side. PM me if you like.

thanks guys. i am paranoid i know. i guess all the arthritic horses i've known are older and the arthritis has been settled so never shown itself like this. they brought her field friend in without her today, hence hooning, not ideal, partly why i'm p'eed off with the whole situation....
i will get a grip (!) and try to have a rational look at her leg over the next few days...
