A mare that was displaying the following symptoms:
Generally grumpy
Hates being groomed particularily around the stomach
Pulls faces at saddle being bought out
Dislikes girth being done up
Has been seen to grind teeth on lunge
Quite 'mouthy' when ridden- constantly moving lips
Excessively swishes tail when ridden
Can sometimes appear to be lazy/ behind the leg
Spooky

Saddle has been checked by an fully qualified fitter and adjusted, teeth been checked by fully qualified BEVA registered dentist no major issues found, chiro been out some soreness but nothing major, physio been out again some soreness but nothing major, vet been out and concluded something not right but not sure what put mare on regumate no real difference, put on bute trial still girthy/ swishy tail/ behind the leg.
I think all this does point to ulcers what do you think? Do horses with ulcers appear mouthy and swishy tailed?

Might be, might not. The only way to tell is to have her scoped so if you suspect it is you need to speak to your vet.

Hi, you can test for ulcers with rantidine (can get it from tescos!) i think was give 7 of the tablets per day and if ulcers you should see an improvement after a good few days then get better working drugs from vet. My just turnt 5yo mare showed same symptoms, had her checked for ulcers, kissing spine etc etc also thought could just be her testing me and stress from moving as only had her a few weeks. Turned out she was just having girly issues i havnt tried regumate so cant pass comment on it but put her on oesstress and it was amazing how quickly she turned into a much more happy, comfortable and better behaved little mare! quite costly stuff but well worth it in my mares case!
