Ok have been working really hard on Pidge's flat work recently with trainer and it is paying off

Schooled him tonight and we had some lovely work in walk and in trot. When he drops in trot, engages behind, lightens and lifts does it take your breath away or am I just strange. I can't help it as to me it is an amazing feeling when they do this, am I the only one?

Oh good that makes me feel so much better as I was beginning to think I was strange

well stranger than normal I suppose

well.... I had a long and bizarre conversation with my riding instructor. I reckon when things go really right with the horse it's, to coin a phrase, better than s"x. Being a male instructor he didn't get it all!

However, all my female friends tended to agree! So yes, I completely understand what you are saying.

Big Bird & I had a fantastic ride on Tuesday ~
and she was f-l-o-a-t-i-n-g

You're not the only one ... it's wonderful when you suddenly start to make progress - in a recent lesson Brooklyn was really starting to carry himself in canter and become so much more balanced ... I had a cheesy grin for ages.

Your not strange at all

Its moments like that that make it all worthwile

I've been struggling with Missy's schooling for a while (well just over a month) she couldn't strike off on the left canter lead, her right canter was crap, quick and unbalanced and we just wern't going anywhere. Over that last few days it's all started to click into place

Tonight her right canter was amazing! Her left canter is improving (with the help of a pole

), her outline is much better, she's much straighter and to finish we picked up right canter dida circle, down the centre line and a spot on transition form canter down to a perfect square halt! I stood there looking like this >>>>>>>

I bet tomorrow she bucks me off

weigh-hay if that was the first time then I think you are entitled to a little blub, well done its a great feeling isn't it
grin.gif

I know what you mean, I drive home from the yard with a silly grin on my face, thank god its dark at the moment and no one can see me

yup - and Darcy was working well and holding himself tonight with no encouragement form me - our first littel display of self carrige, am well pleased...

sounds like its all starting to come together for you two then, hope she behaves herself tomorrow. Because he was so good today I think we'll treat him to some jumping tomorrow

you have every right to be pleased with that
as for Pidge's self carriage............... think we might get there say in 2008

I got medium trot in the school the other day for the first time... it was amazing, one moment we were regular trotting and the next I swear to god we were just 'floating' down the long side of the school.

I just grinned and grinned and grinned for about 5 hours afterwards. I know exactly what you mean, that feeling of lightness and power all balanced underneath you is incredible.
