Nosy question really but...My hubby is very good and offers to pay towards my horses keep, shoes, feed ect but i feel as they are hobby and responsability that he shouden't have to pay for them!.He does buy Flint a new turnout rug every other year for Flints xmas pressie. He never moans and if i say 'oh bugger farrier tomorow' he always says are you alright for money or take the cheque book but i would feel guilty taking his hard earned money (but i will bash his cards on ebay lol).So do you let your OH help or pay for the neddies??.

Yes, I do. But that's mainly because I don't work as I'm a horsewife, ahem, sorry I meant housewife!! I have to be at home to look after our two children.

Your husband probably enjoys 'treating' you and being able to - it's a man provider thing and he's very proud of helping you.

He probably would rather you spent money on a proper hobby/sport than spend endless amounts on handbags and/or shoes!

Haha! I WISH!!! Not much chance of that - unfortunately for me

All money goes into one account. I help myself but do have a (smallish) conscience and don't abuse it. My job pays for about er 75% of the expenses. Slightly eased by the fact two of our (three) kids are resposible for 4/5 of the equines here

He has kept them 100% in the past though and never moaned. Hasn't actually said I think Mr Fin needs a new rug to go with his other 50.............

My liveries pay for the upkeep of our horses - but they live in stables and land that is owned by my OH - so I guess yes he does pay for the upkeep of the horses - but one of them is his so I don't feel guilty - just incredibly lucky

My OH pays for my two (although one will be for sale soon) and he loves us having horses. I went out to the car this afternoon and came back to Nelly's stable to find OH with his arms wrapped round her neck giving her a big cuddle!

Yes you are probably right!.i think my hubby feels abit guilty because he works away from home for weeks on end (European truck driver) so i think he does offer to make up for him not being here!.

Nope mine doesn't. I pay for everything for the horse myself and my own car too. We have our own accounts each and he pays me at the end of every month half of every house hold bill.

Wow some of us are v lucky and well-kept but I also feel envious of those that are independent and do it all by themselves - you should feel v proud!

My husband is v generous but if we argue, he often brings up how much get spent on 'the horse' every month which can be annoying and frustrating as I'm fundamentally independent.

I got given some money at the start of this year and it's been nice to keep a log of every penny I've spent on myself and 'the horse'. Now my husband gets annoyed that I say 'its my money!' as he pays for absolutely everything else.

I'm v good at managing finance though so he'd have less without me!

Well I keep mine at home, free keep, free hay, straw, I can also put most feed on account, and bits and pieces, so yes he does pay for most of it. Also bought and maintains the towing vehicle and trailer.

Though I do seem to spend most of my earnings from a part time job on horsey - entries, tack, farrier, insurance, lessons, etc. etc.

I COULD manage without going out to work, although it would certainly limit what I could do.

No, we have a joint account George and all his start up costs cam eout of this. We each have £500 to spend on clothes, presents and whatever else we fancy no questions, most of mine goes on George. I now spend a lot of time shopping in Oxfam and I hope OH realises his christmas pressie will be pretty cr*p! Not having a go at OH though as this is totally my choice.

My OH pays for everything!!! I have some income from working in the office, but that just seems to disappear in to thin air.........
However we have had a lot of extra 'one off' expenses recently such as building a barn & some stables, so he keeps dropping hints that I ought to get a job.............I suppose it's really only fair that I contribute a bit more to our finances, but I'm far to busy to work.............!!!
