Does you OH pay for your horses upkeep??.

We have a joint account that our wages go into and all bills are paid out of. We both also have our own accounts. I have a part time job as well as my full time one, and my wages from this, go into my account. Any contributions I get from sharers also goes into my account, and all things horsey are paid out of this account. Occasionally I may be a bit short, and then it is paid out of the joint account.

I'm single, so pay for everything. When I wasn't single... I erm... still paid for everything although I'd be quite happy to allow an OH to treat me to something horsey every now and then. Or more often

We share our money....so I suppose he does pay for them....he also built my stables and is putting a new concrete base down and new roof this weekend

all nice and refurbished ready for winter.

Its our daughter who rides, the business pays for most of the upkeep (we employ our daughter to do jobs on the farm, apparently) I buy the big stuff out of my student loan, what else is it for?

He does but then most of them are his and I look after them when hes away at work overseas. I also bring them on and the profit goes into the buisness acount that the feed comes out of. So it works both ways, \but its good that he takes care of the vets bills etc. Also if I really liked the look of something and wanted it then I could get it and he would pay.

considering my oh convinced me to buy my boy i do occasionally, well quite often "lean" on that fact and use it to my advantage, ie he needs a new winter turnout rug this week....also his shoes, she got me buying a horse that "didnt have nor need shoes" so the unexpected expense (due to me riding for hours and hours on end) should not be my fault haha! and the fact that she loves him as much as i do, even thought she is rarely allowed to ride him, helps. im away this afternoon til wednesday so she can have free rein with him......in return for mucking out/feeding etc (always a catch).

ditto, except he didnt buy Jack, he bought Beau LOL.

Slightly different as my parents help me with the horses. I pay half of everything the horses get, my parents pay the rest. But things like the trailer/new rugs etc I pay for in full. Normally my parents by them they I pay them back when I can.
My parents also pay my insurance, tax etc on my car, but I have to do petrol for both my car and the truck.

OH and I used to have a joint account. Everything went in, it all came out.

Now that I'm getting another horse I've got my own account. I can't be doing with the moaning about how much I'm spending, especially since it's my own money!

In my dreams! He moans if i sneak carrots into the weekly shopping nevermind anything else! But quite rightly I suppose as it's my hobby and he's not interested (plus I earn more). He does do all the cooking though which is fab.

No I pay for the lot upkeep, insurance and everything. Oh pays for nothing so far as the horses are concerned.
I was working but gave up part time job a week ago because I was sick and fckn tired of him wanting money from me when I pay for other household bills, food, gas, electric etc, daughter's bus fare and dinner money, clothes etc. My money came from maintenance from ex, child benefit and a part time job. I took the job on to pay for the horses ( as other half on a pretty decent wage) but then when it came to the point I was lending him money and not getting it back and my bills or bills to yard owner were not being paid I had just about had enough!
Now looking for a full time job so I can pay for the horses. Not giving oh any more money! Learn to drive as well so I can be more independent and not be so reliant on someone who had the fortune to be able to learn to drive and get a car.
Sorry rant over but as you can presume I am a little psd off at this moment in time!
Oh and he does pretty much sod all in the house as well. But at least he pays the mortgage so that keeps a roof over my head. However he did buy into the house and therefore has not lost anything but has gained whereas I lost around £6,000 in arrangement and solicitor fees in order to pay ex off etc.
My motto is don't come back as woman in this life, anything else but as far as I am concerned.

i pay big bills insurance ,farrier, rugs, field rent but he often picks up feed ,bedding and would help if i struggled to pay a big bill. when we had to pay several hundred to transport her to newmarket it was no problem and hes just bought us transport so i cant complain.was horseless once and a nightmare to live with so its in his best interests too.

Can someone please tell me where I can find an OH that will fund my horses please?
My aspiration in life is to give up full time work and become a housewife

The only condition being that I don't want to get married and would want a cleaner!!!

No OH so I pay for everything. Always have done though, even when not single. I'm very possesive about the horse - my horse, my hobby, my money... I don't want anyone else involved. At a push I will let an OH drive me and the horse places and not offer petrol money but it would have to be love LOL.

Maybe if I get married and have kids it will change but I can't see it myself.

In a round about way- he covers all the household and utility expenses (I pay the phone bill) and he pays for most of the shopping leaving my F/T salary for the dogs, cats, horse, and necessities like rugs, more rugs and yet some more rugs.... ad infinitum
Can't figure out why I still have no money.......
