Does your beauty regime go out the window when you have a horse?

I only part loan 3 days per week and I notice how much time this takes up (wouldnt change it though

) and Im sacrificing certain things
ooo.gif

Whats the point of washing my hair if Im going ride the next day, im going to get all sweaty and its covered up anyway?
My hands are starting to look like Im turning into a reptile as they are all dry no matter how much hand cream I use.

Anyone else sacrifice their appearence for their horse

Me.......

My OH keeps telling me I smell like a horse (due in part to Minstral's facecloth- the jacket I use for yard work- my delightful equine wipes his mouth on it after every meal

)

I just never seem to have time for pampering myself anymore- tho I suppose in truth, I'd rather spend any free time outside with the horses and dogs!

Definately! lol

If I was riding at night and knew I would be riding again in the morning I wouldnt wash my hair, I'd just have a shower and keep my head out! .... my hair takens AGES to dry.

I also find I dont have time for nails, eyebrows, fake tan, make up, etc etc

My OH says he likes it when I look like a "skank" lmao

Yes I know what you mean...... however when your horsey friends see you out (on the rare night out that you can afford as all your money goes on your horse(s)) they realise how well you SCRUB UP!!!!

I've always done horses pretty much every day, and I've never been "big" on my appearance. Don't get me wrong, I wash and all but I just don't spend time doing things like moisturising (hands and face always feel awful) and applying makeup. I very rarely wear makeup! Seeing as I have to get up at 5.30am I'd rather have an extra 10 minutes in bed than standing in the bathroom applying products. And I also never bath, I always shower as I'm too knackered when I get home from doing horsey stuff and I just want to go straight to bed!

I live in riding clothes and don't care how I look or smell.

I really object to having to buy clothes which are not riding related as I don't feel that I will get the full use out of them. I have actually worn a black SJ jacket to a smart function before, with a smart pair of trousers!

My beauty regime now is literally having a shower...haha when i did my make up for the first time in over a week today my family were like 'ooooooooooooh where are you going'! um nowhere im just trying to look half alive!

Beauty regime?!
Oh you mean a shower! That's about it.
It's true though, it has more impact when you do scrub up properly for a night out. And OH is usually as scruffy as me - clean but scruffy!

I still moisturise etc after washing/showering but that's about it. Can't recall last time I used body lotion what's that?

Leg shaving has gone out the window along with eyebrow plucking or any kind of make up and as for my hair which goes frizzy and matted in the rain. My OH keeps telling me I smell of pee and I seem to be forever washing/drying clothes at the mo. Don't you just love winter?

erm, beauty regime? what is that again? Once I was picking up my son from pre-school and wearing my lovely multi coloured wooly hat, went into the school and noticed that everyone was staring at me and i thought they were just admiring my hat or something. Anyway when I got home and I took my hat off a huge pile of straw and s**t fell off it onto the floor. I realised then what they were staring at me for . lol....how embarrassing.

What beauty regime would that be? Went to my sister's trendy hairdresser and asked if he could do a style that would survive being squashed by a hat for two hours at a time... he just rolled his eyes and sighed.

Read a brilliant sweatshirt once, something about you know your OH is horsey when...

She thinks putting on a clean pair of trainers is dressing up
She falls asleep in the soup if no-one else at the dinner table is horsey

It went on for quite a bit more - anyone know where to get it?

Not really........ but then it was never a big deal to me anyway.

I too share 3 days a week, but still shower and wash hair every morning, and moisturise, bod and face.

night time just involves washing face and applying spot cream... and hand cream if they are a bit dry.....

[/ QUOTE ] God yeah, that is me and when you do it full time, a decent cleansing and moisturising rountine becomes history too. I used to wear make-up every day and that just got lost some time after I got my own horse

Urmm yes and no - i still shower everyday, do my hair, moistuirise and makeup etc, but other things like tanning, eyebrows get a back seat for if i get spare time etc...i do like to still make an effort, it makes me feel better
smile.gif
OH stil says i smell like horse every night tho lol.

When I had a break for a while last year - OH loved it, i always looked nice, wore nice clothes etc, oh well lol

My appearance may suffer, there is always a bit of mud hanging around somewhere, usually on my shoes if I have been to the yard on the way to or from work.
However at the end of every day I do have a bath or shower, do use body lotion and cleanse and moisturise my face every day. My OH can cope with me virtually living in horse clothes at home but draws the line at having the bedroom smelling like a stable - and I wouldn't like it either. He also buys me nice perfume, his theory being that horsey smells aren't quite so bad when overlaid with Opium.

beauty regime - um what's that?! I do George in the evenings and I always shower and change when I get home otherwise OH complains that I smell! I do use body lotion and cleanse and moisturise my face, any makeup is reserved for work - think I would frighten the customers if I didn't!!

Me too....I shower, wash my hair most days
blush.gif
but my straighteners only really get used about once every 3 months! Usually I bung my hair up into a clip to go to work (have had bits of hay hanging out of it before now!). I wear make-up, but I don't bother with lippy in the winter - just lip balm, and I soak my hands in moisturiser every day at work cos otherwise they crack and get sore!

My car is the worst thing - there is more straw in there than the stable
blush.gif
so if I go anywhere in that, I stink when I get out anyway!

Yes!

My horses have a lot more 'products' than I do! I wish I got a full groom every day!

It was only on our yard night out at Xmas when someone said they didnt recognise me (bcause I wasnt covered in poo and wasnt a mess), that I realised how bad it was lol.
grin.gif

I dont care though, my horses dont care how I look.

I arrive at the yard early morning about 6.30 to turn out and muck out, always have a woolly hat on, someone asked me why do you always wera your hat- well beacuse I look like this whip my hat off hair at all strange angles well frightening.

I literally get up from my bed get dressed clothes on floor ready and go to the yard no shower until I get back to get ready for work

before my horse i owened 40 pairs of shoes! now i spend my time lusting over ariat bromonts! i feel sorry for my child being picked up from school in a landrover covered and filled up with horse poo whilst getting very odd looks for wearing jods smelly wellies and wooly holey jumpers from the other yummy mummies outside his nursery. My poor OH suffers in silence.think i should put myself on this morning as a desperate case for a makeover!
