Does your dog do this?

My oldest dog has always listened to the sat nav and therefore knows when we arrive at our destination. I move about to different areas on the boat so almost always have it on, even if we are just going to the shop. I also take them with me most of the time, they have a big bed, duvets and pillows in the back of my little car/van thingy, so are quite happy to go to sleep if I leave them in the car, so they do hear the sat nav a lot.

When I asked people about this a couple of years ago no one else's dog did it. I just noticed today the younger dog is doing it. Do other peoples dogs listen to their sat navs?

They don’t react and generally we turn it off before it ends. They squeak when nearing eg the woods and Goose used to do lots of happy noises when we got home, don’t know if he thought we were never going home or something.
 
I go to a place called Cannock Chase about 3 times a week, it's 30 minutes away. On the way back Clover rests in the back, when I turn into a certain street and we're a few minutes away from home she gets up every single time. She knows breakfast is coming and up she gets.
 
My dog knows when I used to turn into work, but in the 25 minute journey usually didn't need indicators until that point, so I think that was what they recognised
 
No as they're in boxes at the back but they do react to certain speed bumps and corners and I swear to God my old one can smell salt water, he gets excited going towards beaches he's never been to before.

He also used to lose his shit when he heard my phone case snapping shut as that meant I had finished doomscrolling and he was going for a walk.
 
Not to the sat nav but they do know the route to the beach - and go batshit when we get to the road before the one the beach car park is on!
 
My dogs know the route to various places. The farm is en route to their regular walking destination of the sand dunes.
They love going to the farm as we walk around all the fields and tracks, but we don’t go that often. If I turn off the main road to the lane the farm is on they go absolutely mental. They know exactly where we are going!

A lot of my customers say their dog knows the route to my house and they start getting excited on the way.
 
I guess you mean they react to ‘you have arrived at your destination’? That’s smart! Rew knows when we’ve arrived at various training or competition venues, maybe it’s the smell of hundreds of excited dogs in one area that alerts him!
 
Nothing to do with a sat nav but for years it has fascinated me and many fellow dog owners how our dogs seem to know when we are within a short distance of our destination, even if it’s a show venue we’ve never been to before . I can only think they pick up some kind of “we’re nearly there” vibe from the people in the car .

Not a phone snap, but Phoebe somehow knows the difference between the sound of me upstairs getting dressed to go to work vs the sound of me getting dressed to dog walk/go out to yard. Getting dressed to go to work = no sound from her, she will inevitably be curled up on the sofa or in her crate, whereas getting dressed for dog walk/yard = tiny little squeaks from the bottom of the stairs and an excited bouncy thing at the bottom as I come down them.

I have tried so hard to work out what I do different between the two dressing styles that she has figured, but I have no idea.

Everyone else is varying levels of deaf so I can't even remember the sounds they used to respond to tbh, but given that I never have the sat nav volume on because it makes my brain melt and I would end up stuck on a roundabout forever, I don't think they would have ever picked that one up.
 
Not sat nav no, I never have them with me really if I’m going anywhere that it’s needed.
It’s funny what they learn though.

Cecil knows yard jobs! If I tell him which I’m going to do and give the option to come he won’t poo pick ever, he enjoys making feeds and will sometimes do stables, that’s weather dependent!
He will run to the door all excited when I’m putting boots on. The mention of poo picking he is straight back to bed 😂

Mine used to know when i was stopping doomscrolling. I realised I made a noise to myself every time just before I got up.

Mine know shoes on means going out to put the genny on/get water or similar. Deodrant spraying means out out 😂

Ha! no. Some people have a platform for motorbikes and someone built this thing!

If I'm off on some sort of adventure trip I park it up, but normal moving I move the boat then either walk or cycle back down the tow path and pick it up Its easier if you don't have a car, but that's only really feasible for the lucky people who are retired and don't have uni or work etc. The speed limit is 4mph, so as you can imagine, we don't go far, usually about 3 to 5 miles.

Many years ago when I lived with my parents, I had a dog. Mum and Dad would often go away to their caravan in Kent, and would take her with them. If I was joining them after work at any point, they would always know when I was about 10 mins away, as Jude would be ears pricked, looking out of the window for me.
 
Mine definitely knows where we’re going. Doesn’t need the sat nav. She also knows the difference between dog walking clothes and going out clothes.

How are you now? I remember you had a lot of trouble with your ankle a while back.
 
Not to the sat nav but mine react to the sound made at the end of a teams call - as quite often I then get up to let them out, get a drink etc.

Hi, yes all good thank you.

Ankle absolutely fine now. Still full of metal but doesn’t cause me any issues other than I can’t sit cross legged with that one on top or it goes numb 😅

I was back riding at 12 weeks, the day after boot removal.

Random question, but does it feel heavier? Ive always wondered if the extra weight of the metal is something you notice and could never work out what to google to get an answer!

Nope, doesn’t feel any heavier.
Though you’ve made me just stand with my eyes shut, holding each leg up in turn to see if I can feel a difference in weight 😂
