My crazy post of the day, inspired by Boggoly Dog

Beastiedog doesn't smell like a dog, unless she is in desperate need of a bath. She smells 'warm' that's the only way I can describe it.
Tinadog and Midget smell quite dog-like but then again they are outdoor dogs.

Whereas, Boggoly Dog who belongs to my sister stinks of doggy-ness! She is an indoor dog but even if she is just bathed she stinks of dog!

I find that dogs that cast a lot smell really doggy? If that makes sense?
My aunts CKC STINKS! Maybe somethin in the breed?
Scruff doesn't that much, just if he has a really good walk and omes home and almot dives into his water bowl!

Yep definitely dog especially when they are wet. Are you sure Beastiedog is...well....a dog and not a , errrmm, radiator or a log fire or something?

Otto smells lovely, unless he has just returned from a walk, in which case he smells of wet, muddy dog and anything he may have decided to roll in.

My Mum asked me how often I bathed him as he smells sweet like shampoo, but he has only been bathed twice since I've had him - once because he rolled in goose poo and the other time because he had dog poop all over his bottom

My Parents dog smell very doggy despite being indoor dogs, I think it's because the ratio of dogs to people is 3:1 in their favour. Whereas Otto is the only dog so he has to compete with mine and OH's body odours, and of course we smell delightful

mine normally smells ever so faintly of dog (well puppyish at the moment) unless he rolls in...... cat poo, fox poo, deer poo, random poo........ eats horse poo (thats a fave!)

however last week I bathed him at the weekend, he smelt lovely and clean for a week, then about tuesday started to PONG! like not of poo or anything, just weird horrid smell, so he got another bath this weekend and now he smells like puppy again, just last week was random!

My friends spaniels smell different though and they are together 99% of the time! and mine smells different to them and they live together when we are at uni!

prob like people, each to their own BO! hehe

Nope. One of the upsides to their single coat is that BTs are completely odourless--until, that is, Stella rolls in her all-time favourite scent, Eau de Goosepoop.

Hard to tell - I don't think Sweep smells of anything but then I live with him. Obviously he has wide variety of extra aromas he likes to add - muck heap, variety of poo, wet dog (really like a wet sack)

etc etc and when he goes to be clipped he comes back smelling of roses

- which means he has to head straight for the brook so his mates don't laugh at him!!

Chimo stinks like a dog! she smells bad when she is wet and not as bad when she is dry. After nealry flooding the house trying to bath her, we have now give up on doing that, although she did roll in silage (sp?) last week and got scrubbed with peach flavour dog shampoo and squirted with the hose. she then smelt of silage and peach....

T-bone smells like cheesey feet for some strange reason.

although they both smell much better than the ferrets!!

Mine dont generally smell doggy. They can have they odd time when they smell like a dead animal (usually because they have rolled in one!)

I think alot of the 'smell' of a dog has to do wih the food they eat...
I can tell a flesh fed pack of hounds to a non flesh fed lot straight away?

My dog smells faintly of doggy smell but usually of something he's rolled in!!
Usually some sort of animal poop or a dead something!!!

My collie smells very slightly of warm puppy which is rather nice. My cocker spaniel on the other hand has very smelly feet!!!

k9h - also think smell is to do with diet. My lab used to stink and have skin problems...vet suggested his food was too high energy. Changed his food and I had non stinky dog...although he now has a diet of fish...so his coat doesn't smell but his breath certainly does.

Its not food - generally genetics

We have two borders, feed the same, both eat horse poo (delightful), but different breeding.

However my border (red grizzle) stinks, to the point that she now thinks "stinky" is an affectionate term. I regularly wash with a tea tree shampoo, but usually she objects and tracks down fox poo in revenge. So I guess I am just going to have to put up with the hum!

Not tonight they don't, the silly sods chased a skunk across the garden, so they now smell like burnt rubber only a bit worse.
