Had mine out earlier on and was playing fetch with him. Apparently, I wasn't throwing the ball fast enough for his liking because I got the whiny growl (grrr-oooo). I've never managed to get it on video but it's so funny to hear. :D

One of my young GSPs chats back all the time! All sorts of vocalizations - I am currently teaching her to "purr like a pussycat" on command!

Oh yes, Loki is very vocal, mostly when he is playing with his favorite ball. I keep trying to film him 'talking' to us, but I think he gets camera shy when it comes to videos. I'll catch him sooner or later.

Yep, he does little whiney growls if he's bored or wants to go out  and if my mum goes our suddenly without him around his dinner time he literally cries going waaaaaaw waaaaaaw waaaaaaaw, until he realises I'm still in and then comes to find me to have a rant and cry at me then goes to bed  he's a strange one!

One does. The staffy x. I ask him he stuff and he waaaw waaw waaw's back. Unless I ask do you want your dinner and then he barks. He also knows that when he hears the music for Emmerdale it's dinner time. So as soon as it comes on he starts getting exciting and gets his food bowl. He got confused when I watched it about 10pm on catch up tv once :)

Yess! Our GSD will tell us if he needs to go out and if its a 'wee' or a 'poo'!!

I also get very told off if i am taking too long drinking my coffee before morning walks :D

Yep. One is essentially silent with two exceptions - if we are going out, and she knows it's to somewhere exciting (I have picked up training rucksack or x-back harness instead of normal harness) and I am taking too long to get ready she will howl the house down, proper deep wolfy howls. The second one is when I am asking her to sit in preparation for an agility run - I get an earful of excited howly backchat before she finally slinks into a half-sit.

The other one provides a constant whinging commentary on everything. Even sleep isn't an escape, he whines and whuffles while he's dreaming. You can't leave him tied up anywhere, even if you're right next to him, as you get the WHA WHA WHA WHA WHA. :o

I have 3 staffords. Of course they are chatty!. I have the grizzle from the youngest at the yard when she wants to go in the car and out of the cold. I have the sharp bark from the oldest when she wants me to go to bed. I have a growling (low) from the boy and the youngest when they are saying hello to very special friends and lots of other noises when they want feeding and I am taking too long..

Boots the greyhound is getting chattier these days, if he wants to go out and you aren't in the room he whines. If he wants to play he does short whines and when he is cosy he does a low down gruffley noise as if to say I'm settled! Like a doggy mmmm

If you're playing and he wants more you get a bark, which still shocks me as it's not something he does much at all! He was completely silent for 6 months so all this chatter is new :D

Gobby Staff- yes he talks to me.

Single bark- someone is outside/ my ball is wedged under the table/ help me generally

Until i do not do what i am supposed to fast enough - check what is outside/free said ball/get squirrel to come down from the tree for him

Then bow wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowow

Hence his nick name Gob*****!

Yes. He makes wookie (star wars) noises when playing with his toy. Is the toy gets stuck somewhere he yips at you then runs and stares at where is is stuck.

my little patterdale x border is very talkative lol, he chats away to me or himself in like little gumbles is so funny!
he also sings but only to certain music or my mobile phone! he has excellent taste ha ha!

My whippet whinges when I put my wellingtons and dog walking coat on, and then woofs at me while we are walking to the door.

If I shut her downstairs and stay upstairs for too long she whinges and starts to howl in protest!

Bear The Border is incredibly vocal - he's at his loudest when on his back, gnawing on one or other of his toys. :D

I say 'incredibly', as Tugg, our old BT, was as quiet as a mouse in comparison. That said, I do love Bear and his conversations - always puts a smile on my face, no matter what! :D:D

The bitch in my avatar is a real groaner and the kids play her like bagpipes sometimes. She waits until they get their arms round her and then groans away.

The sillybrowndog is incredibly vocal and has a wide range of whinges, whines, groans, grumbles and yips. He is at his best when greeting me as he likes to have something in his mouth, so I give him a toy and he tiptaps around me, making all kinds of weird and wonderful noises with his tail whirring around.

Our GSD sounds like Chewbacca when he's getting excited about his walk. As soon as you start to put your shoes on he does his Chewbacca impression. Very funny.

Our GBGV, Clementine, has been talking to us since she was 8 weeks old. It's not a yelp or whine or bark. It's a low woo, woo, woo with slightly higher and low intonations...quite easy to listen to, actually. She started talking at meal times. Seeing this little munchkin pursing her lips to form her woos just creased us up every time she was fed. As she got older, she'd tell us when she needed to go out (still does). Now, three years on, she discusses her pleasure in her toys, visitors, or just us coming through the door. Hand on my heart, there hasn't been a day since we have owned her that we haven't laughed at her remarkable vocal skills and comedic antics.

I have a talker a proper chatterbox, Pip our Lancashire Heeler is very vocal. If my daughter takes her out for the day Pip bounds up to me and tell me all about it. I say have you had a good day and she goes woo, I say what did you see and she goes woowoowwoo its a proper conversation, I wait for her to finish and ask more questions she never interrupts she is well brought up:D.She also tells tales, comes and finds me, tells me something, I follow to catch Diesel eating an apple he has stolen from the fruit bowl. Im sure if he shared with her she wouldnt be telling me:D

Yup we get a smile and a howl from Poppy when we come in the door, the howl sounds a lot like someone shouting "heloooooooo" :D She also does a funny little growly sound when she wants to play :D

Gosh cocker spaniels never shut up....always got something to say

I would have to agree there, we have three working cockers who, true to their working background, rarely actually bark, but, they are all very vocal in their own way, my bitch grins and smiles at you when she is pleased to see you and makes sort of low howling type noises when asked if she wants dinner or a walk etc, my older dog, makes low grumbly type noises in his thoat to tell you he wants/needs something and is hilarious...our youngest, a homebred dog pup, (6 months old now) makes all sorts of strange gutteral noises at you , think he is trying to tell us all sorts of stuff all the time...am sure he is copying the older dogs!!! they are at their most vocal on shoot days when we are getting ready !!

Yep tell gizmo to shut up and u just get back chat lol or at 6pm he comes up to you wags his tail so fast and moans at you till you look at him he then steps back and grabs his ball every night at 6pm lol.

Yes!! My boy yawns really loudly whenever he wants out - it actually sounds ike he's saying "out!".

Keep meaning to video it as it's quite funny!

Our 4 year old zwergschnautzer is notorious for a range of sounds which define his needs for going outside, getting a cheat-snack, or freeing the sofa space. It is certainly entertaining and seems to be an important part of the dogs' personality. So yeah, it tells of what's been going on when I was not at home, and what it wants to do next - the difference is in the sound and the tempo...a question is alwas slower, similar range, but a thicker throat-vibration. The thin pitch is announcing love and affection.
