Alfie loves it!

Obviously his favourites are Crufts/Dog wisperer, but he's also into wildlife programmes and a bit of action, He was really into Live and Let Die today!

Star doesn't even notice the telly box!

I had a Border Collie who loved watching TV.

Her favourite programmes were Blue Peter, and One Man and His Dog, and she would run round the back of the TV to see where the animals had gone.

She would get very upset if there was any violence, and would run up to the screen growling.

She ABSOLUTELY HATED us watching Wimbledon, would get one of her tennis balls and would stand infront of the TV facing us, bouncing and catching her ball, as if to say "I am much more interesting to watch than that rubbish!"

We have got a x breed that loves watching tv, animal programmes are her absolute favourite especially any with fast moving animals, she will get up and go to the tv and and looks round the back when they go off screen.
She also loves childrens cartoons, she sits for ages with my god daughter and watches sponge bob square pants and does that really cute inquisitive tipping head to the side pose when sponge bob talks ( guess its the squeeky voice that does it!!)

Mine's a big fan or "Come Bye" and xc - in fact anything that's movement on a green background. LurcherTV, I guess. He is interested in Dog Borstal, Dog Whisperer etc. but usually it's the barking that attracts his attention.

Aww, bless!!

Alfie looks behind the TV for animals too - then I think he feels silly/confused when they aren't there!!

I can't quite work out if watching TV is the sign of a thick dog or an intelligent one!

Tilly (our terrier) absolutely loves Dog Borstal. She won't watch any other programmes with animals in at all. She used to love Richard & Judy in the morning - she actually used to moan if we dragged her off the chair to come out into the yard. She's also hooked on Chicago Hope.

My Jack Russel loves watching tell. He'll sit and watch anything, but prefers animal programmes, especially horses. Although he goes nuts when the Eastenders theme tune is on.

Our old girl was in the house while I was watching K9 once. In the scene where Jerry Lee catches the snooker ball, breaks it and growls at the Hell's Angel who threw it at him, she went and hid behind the sofa!

ETA: For any of those who get RTE, Irish telly channel, my exes dog, a good Irish Catholic, went absolutely nuts when the Angelus was being played before the six o'clock news. He also went behind the set to see where the bells were coming from.

Just logic from their point of view + curiosity. Pretty good sign I'd say

Our border terrier x adores the BBC One 'advert' the trailer type thing they show between programmes, with all the doggies. He also adoressss Meercat Manor ! x

Taz: Likes cartoons/animations and fast 'upbeat' music he sometimes can be a bit too much with certain songs... Hava Nagila and Three little Indians are his most favourite.

Dislikes: dogs. He will bark, growl and go nuts if there is a dog on the screen... I guess he thinks it is a tresspasser... *shruggs*

Dizzy: Cartoons/animation, anything else she will ignore it... Although time to time she has been known to join the defense with Taz agaisn't digital dogs...

I remember reading something about differences in the way dogs see that might partly explain why some get into tv and others don't. It had something to do with dogs that work by sight having a greater likelihood of being attracted by certain kinds of movement. I'll see if I can find it on the 'net . . .
