Does your farrier bring his dog along?

The dog was deffo the farriers it was seen and heard barking on the property and the farrier also confirmed his dog was on the property (he whistled it off). He admitted that someone told him his dog had a kitten trapped. He has promised his dog will in future be kept in the van. This farm has livestock on the yard and the farrier has been reminded of what farmers can do if a dog poses a potential threat to livestock.
(Sorry no reply sooner guys because I am supposed to be working!)

Poor kitties, what a shame.

Yup my farrier brings his dog, she so sweet. He always lets her out and because our gate is always locked, he puts her underneath and she wonders round to let us know he is there. She has free reign across our yard, is impeccably behaved, and plays with our dog. Never had a problem in the nearly 2 years i've been using him and we have cats, chickens, ducks that just wander too.

Yes, he brings his miniature jack Russell and he runs around chasing the cats sometimes and eating their biscuits, but farrier is lovely

Yes he does, but she doesnt come out while he is at the yard. She has a lovely big cage, complete with duvet in the back of his van.

Yes our farrier brings his dogs, but thy are kept an eye on when let out, one is elderly the other has a bad hip, so tend to be allowed out for a snoop about and a fuss by us lot and then returned to the cab of the van.
I would be devastated if my dogs killed some one elses animals.

My farrier doesn't, however our vets almost always have at least 1 dog with them, however they stay in the van/car (mainly because our yard has a guard dog. Its unfair to unsettle her. Hence yard has a ban on dogs, vets get exception but they must stay in car.

Our farrier brings his dog, she wanders round and helps me fetch the horses in, last time they horses were shod she came into the kitchen while the farrier had a cup of coffee. The only things I am aware she has killed are the farriers own hens!

I think mine does, at least, a big dog that I'd never seen before appeared last time he was here and disappeared when he left, but she/he seemed friendly, had a good fuss off me and just quietly mooched around not bothering anyone. We tend to know who's dog is safe and if they're not ours go away or they don't come to the yard. And the yard cats never appear during the day anyway as they're wild and run away

how awful for those poor cats, kittens and owners. My farrier brings his dog but he is a very friendly little dog from what i can gather, plus we have no cats.

Most of our 'professional' visitors (inc the vet) seem to have dogs with them, and i offer to have them run around but mostly their owners say no and leave them in the car. My dad's farrier did however manage to run over and kill dad's dog on one visit, poor chap was devastated obviously.
