Does your horse act older than there age

My horse is 12 but mentally she acts like a 20 year old. She is only started acting like this year. She is a lot more calmer and is not spooky at all. She used to spook at her own shadow. She Has also gotten grumpy. Does your horse act older ?

I'd be looking for a reason for a behaviour change like that. Grumpy suggests pain to me

My first suggestion would be to test for Cushings. Has anything changed about her diet or management?

I'd test for Cushing's too. My horse was diagnosed when he was 12. He was always cheerful and cheeky but he became not quite himself in a way that I couldn't quite put my finger on, and was just a bit detached and spaced out really. He had none of the typical Cushing's symptoms at all. I had bloods ran for everything and that was what came back. Once he got going on the Prascend he was back to being a plonker again

Tks everyone I don’t think she in pain. I will have a chat to the vet about the crushing disease and I will get her tested .
