Mine does if I park the car outside on the road. If, however I park inside the main gate she ignores me as that normally means she is going to be ridden.
Pretty much any time if I call my gelding he will canter up the field trot through the farm, into the barn, into his stable where he will resolutely refuse to leave unless I offer him food. He sometimes has a detour to eat some milk thistle or sniff some poo on the muckheap, but he generally wants to be in his bedroom.
Old mare will canter up whiffling at me, but son's horse will stand at the other side of the field, and is very random about whether he will come up or not.
Yep always come to either a shouted 'ponies' or car horn, normally at speed with some bucking on a sunny day. I would be rather stumped if they were hard to catch as one steep hill, and I wouldn't be walking up & down more than once.
In winter they are back at the gate within an hour! I make them stay out lol. If on rare occassion I do go up and they are at the bottom of the hill and I call, they come charging up. But usually they see me coming a mile away and start shouting me to get a move on!
In summer it depends on how much grass there is...
Dont need to shout as soon as they see the car turn in at the bottom of the lane they gallop up to the gate No food involved either and usually they are being ridden they are just pleased to see us. Houdini will be trying my patience again soon no doubt as the grass goes
Mostly. They all do in winter but in summer it depends. The two youngsters pretty much always do but the other three are usually too busy stuffing their faces!
G never even used to look up and Fanfare was a bit nervy, then I started giving both girls a treat once their headcollars were on and now both come to the gate and wait! They're very polite and well mannered so it's the only time.
Samba does as does the other mare I share turning out with (friend and I do each other's horses so only up once a day).
Tonight I was late 6pm! Amd all samba did when she heard me on me on the yard was scream and scream and run around nutter.
But samba would come to call for anyone at dinner time.
Mine will come to my call if it's tea time. He'll trot over or take a steady walk lol. If another horse takes an interest he'll get to me quicker to make a claim lol.
However if he doesn't get a treat once the gate is closed, he's off down the track to non on the grass nearer the barn (quite convenient, really). But likewise I turn him out, he'll do the same, even if the gate is wide open he'll turn around and go back down! Then it's not so convenient lol!!!
