As title says really.
I know if i'm upset Blacky is always a lot more willing to let me cuddle her and fuss over her than she is normally.

But does your horse seem upset if you are upset, angry if you are angry, etc?

i beleive so. I know we have a special bond, but that started when we first met. Some arab owners may be able to understand when I say, he chose me.
I have a very close bond with my mare too. She's only been with me a month (2 weeks of which I was on holiday) but she comes to call, and follows me around like a puppy.
I try to keep very calm and confident when Im dealing with both of them, as I feel they do pick up on my mood.

George is very good like that, last Monday my pet rat died and I was really upset (ok just a rat, but he was special to me) and George kept nudging and nuzzling me, and today I went up the garden to discover a cat or fox had dug my little man out of his grave and done unpeakable things to him (sorry I'm rambling), I went up the yard very soon after and got the same reaction from George! Mind, if I'm in a bad mood I certainly don't get the best of him, he's not naughty just not the same. Mind by the time I leave him I'm usually in a good mood!

Bert always knows when I am having a bad day...he is extra thoughtful making sure that he stands on my foot, smacks me in the face with his giant head or refuses to stand sill for hoof picking and tacking up........

Must be a cob thing because Hattie is exactly the same!

Bobs the same - only he's like a lost puppy all the time! When mucking out the dorr has to be patrolled by him to stop other horse from coming in and he has to be next to me (except when i have tack in hand then its faux sleep time!)

Althought when am in a bad mood he's always extra cheeky!

When I've been known to cry on the odd occasion(very rare I do!)I've had a hairy muzzle shoved in my face........funnily my cob trod on my foot in his box,and I just needed to see the damage there and then, so removed boot and sock, while doing a balancing act against the wall......and had my foot licked,(No my feet don't smell!)but quite comforting as was a cold Winter's day and hot breath and saliva does wonders!

Pips a nightmare! If I feel down he get really uptight and edgy, he knows somthing is up. Ginga is just a grumpy grogs an time!

2 yards ago they had a cat with no tail. She was my little mate, always found her sleeping on my pallet, so made a bed for her out of some rugs that needed washing, and she was in heaven bless her.
Broke up with current o/h and went down the yard feeling very tearful and sat down on my pallet to have a little cry. Cat bounced on my lap and stood up, wrapping her paws round my neck and licking the side of my face

sat there like that for ages! very strange cat but so so cute!

Was upset after being "dumped" one of many times (long story, same guy) when went up to do horse for the night. Was doing the self indulgent sobbing/sniffling in her box and she came over and started nuzzling and nudging me, looking really worried. Never known a horse do that before. Also when I stubbed my finger really badly, she did the same. She seemed so concerned, I havent sobbed in her box since for fear of upsetting her!

Im sure they know when you are upset - if you think how quickly they pick up on the slightest sign of nerves its not surprising. My boy is a complete thug most of the time and quite often challenges me, but on the few occasions I have been upset he has been really gentle and affectionate. Bless !
