I had the swine in an outline (ish), and he just decided to stick his nose in the air and hollow as a visitor to the yard came to the side of the school. I had been told a few minutes earlier that the visitor works for Anky...

F'ing horse!!!!!
 
My old boy always makes me smile and sometimes a little embarrassed if i have people with me when he has little cough but a huge fart comes out and he gives me that look as to say 'Oops'!
I'm laughing just typing this......

Haha. Yup! I have a MW hunter, who's not very well schooled, but he was getting better. First time my mate was about when i was schoolin him, she came round for a look, and he would just not go in to an outline, which he'd been starting to get the hang of, she walked off and he dropped straight in to it.

Plus numerous well timed spooks at absolutely nothing from the cob after i've been singing his praises about how good he is etc.

LOL. Or the best one where they snort, fart and make themselves jump XD An old riding school horse [the total safey too!] had his first and only ever known spook in about 10 years, by doing this! Old boy managed to do a rather impressive spanish impersonation as the latter came out and ended up down the opposite end of the school in about a second flat!

We were all in hysterics! Rider included!

All the time. I live in a small village where most people know everyone. He frequently stops traffic in both directions 'cos of some scary flower, his own shadow or nothing obvious to the human eye. I am often asked how many traffic jams I have caused lately!!
We have almost squashed a man in a wheel chair, attempted to maim many a cyclists and people walking .....well they should really know better!!
 
Not so much embarrass but I was singing his praises to high heaven whilst walking to his field..got to the field and he only run off and refused to be caught! Men!
 
Yup - generally by doing his best impersonation of an unco-ordinated giraffe the second somebody comes past the school - gen the YO and gen just after I've told her how well he's coming on.

Also when others are flying over impressive fences in the school and mine is having minor hysterics at being asked to walk over a trotting pole. Was in the school last w/e with another livery on her 4yr old - Taff was merrily spooking and snorting at the 'monster' trotting poles on the ground and refusing the idea of having anything to do with them, the 4yr old meanwhile was walking and trotting beautifully fluid circles over them...
 
Yes, mine sucks her tongue and makes a revolting wet fart noise. Im fairly certain most people assume it's me. The last time she did it publicly was for the physio, she has an uncanny knack of timing it just when the casual observer drops their gaze, so they are never quite sure who delivered the noise.
 
My horse likes to make people feel bad that they have scared him. I was hacking and some nice driver stops and I say thanks through the cars open window and my horse spooks at the driver say your welcome. He's not really scared, he just thinks it's funny!
 
On a hack a few weeks ago we decided to stop and have an ice cream. My little darling stood quite happily next to the ice cream van as i was being handed my ice lolly and did a massive poo! The poor lady in the van had to drive away from it, it was so stinky. I was mortified and my friend was wetting herself!
 
all the time to be honest, we can do a hack a million times and then go out one day and someone can walk past us and we are galloping off somewhere! also when the YO is about he doesnt know how to behave as soon as she's gone he will be the perfect gentleman! :(
 
remember once i was out a hack on a tiny little welsh pony, got onto the football pitches near the drive and he just wouldnt go in the direction i wanted him to! kept napping, spinning and being a silly boy, almost ended up knocking a poor woman with a pushchair down :$! sorry!!
 
yes! Although to be fair I'm something of an embarassment myself at times so can't really complain. :p

My best to date has to be out jumping with a horse I used to own and he slowed down approaching a treble and I thought he was just backing off so gave him a tap with the stick. He jumped the first and second part lovely then literally halted on landing over the second jump (all one stride apart), did number two's :eek:, then did an almighty leap from a standstill to clear the third part! Organiser classed it as clear round as he technically didn't refuse the jump and didn't step back lol. Had those watching in absolute stitches :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Tee hee. Herc my cob does that. When people (usually walkers) ask if they've scared him my usual responce is 'No, he's just an idiot'

Also sounds familiar....Including spooking at a bush thats halfway down our track, and has always been there....We've walked past it an average of 8 times a week for the last 7 years, and the other weekend he decided it was terrifing for no reason (not even a bird flew out of it) and jumped backwards....In to the shetland being ridden by the YO's 2 and half year old granddaughter, me and the mother both started to panic as the shetland spooked too (not that i blame her, Hercs at least 3 times her size)....said child sat there smiling (seriously she has the better seat than half the riders on our yard).
 
No - tis me, not the horse that embarasses me..........!

Hence the comment from a regional co-ordinator 'That's a lovely horse your daughter is on....'

My response - 'Yes - bit tricky on the flat, but 100% reliable XC - never stops'

Followed (quickly) by - 'Oops........!'

Yes! When my mare is in season she will wonder past the geldings, then the stallion, and ignore them completly. Then when she sees a mare she will prance, whinny, then lift her tail at them.. she very nearly squirted me in the face a few weeks ago :s
 
Yes, in the past when he's tried to 'get it on' with you in the field or the stable or when I've been doing some ground work. :o

The time when I had to get off and walk him back because he tried mounting a mare while I was out hacking with them :o it was like the walk of shame back to the yard.

The time he napped into a someone's garden, nearly sat on their BMW and put pretty hoof prints all over their lawn :o (I wasn't riding him then, someone else was who was trying to master his napping...it didnt work) but we went round to apologise with a bottle of wine, they said he can do it more often if get a bottle of wine every time :D

Yeah he tends to show me up at times! :rolleyes:

Exiting a somewhat energetic dressage test, to be told by the judge out the window, well sat keep going she's got great potential and only a youngster, to which I replied well actually she's now 20 yrs old!

Managing to jump a couple of massive hedges out hunting, to then refuse a mini log in front of everyone (very red-faced!). Stopping traffic both ways because a blade of grass looked at her funny!

Love her anyway! Life would be boring without her quirks!
 
Reading through these has made me giggle....we wouldn't be without them though would we? :)
My horse has a random habit of almost saying to me " come on mum im bored...you must be too...." but before i have an answer we're off.....his head on the floor lol
the running into the field with his headcollar still on is one of his favorites too :)
