As title really?
Does your horse/pony have a ticklish spot anywhere on their body?

Reason for the question, my boy who is rising six this year is very ticklish/shivery around his wither area.
I’m trying to rule all sorts of things out. I don’t think it’s directly in his withers as before I put pressure on in that area he’s already shivering as if he’s got a fly on him and he’s trying to shake it off.
I’ve got the physiotherapist coming out to get her opinion on Monday, but I just wanted to know if there was anyone else on the forum who has a ticklish horse? If this is even a thing.
Would be grateful for your replies,
Thanks!

Years ago I rode a horse who was very ticklish behind the saddle. If you touched or scratched him there, he’d buck (whether you were on board or on the ground).
As an extremely ticklish person myself, I can only advise that you touch any ticklish places firmly, with the flat of your hand. Being tickled is actually extremely unpleasant and light, tentative, fingertip contact is the worst!

Yes the vet found his tickly spot for the first time last Monday, vet has known him for years and I have owned him for about 10/11 years he has never reacted to leg messing about with, she clipped his lower legs and just one small area sent him wild, he just couldn't stand the clippers/vibration near it, everywhere else was absolutely fine, there was nothing suspect in the area it just drove him wild

I had a mare that if you scratched her in front of her udder would curl her lip, lift her back leg and shake it back and forth just like a dog does :D

Diva can be a bit funny about her elbows, or just behind her elbows for some reason.
She LOVES having her ears scratched as hard as possible and her eyes will literally roll back into her head  and she will lean on whoever is doing and love them forever. :D
