Both of mine are very funny when they drink. Maddy drinks with her tongue hanging out and when she's finished she leaves her tongue hanging out of her mouth and wanders off like that.

Flash is even stranger, he takes a huge gulp so all the water puffs out his cheeks then sticks his head out and slurps and gulps like a baby with a bottle. Its such an odd sound and he looks really simple when he does it, never seen another horse drink like that

hehe they do sound rather strange
He doesnt have a strange way of drinking as such but he doesnt like to drink when you are around.

hes out 24/7 and has water in his stable when i bring him in to groom/ride/pamper. and he wont touch his fresh water in the stable, but will wait until hes outside again to go and have a drink

Baron always leaves a bit in his mouth, he looks at you as if hes finished it as then just opens his mouth and dribbles everywhere, usually covering me with water. He does it every time without fail.

mine will splash around take a drink then turn to you with her mouth open and nod her head up and down spraying you with any water left in her mouth

well guinness likes to drown her self , she puts her whole nose under her auto matic trough in her stable and then when it starts to fill up and make a noise she spookes lol Sometimes i wonder do horses have brians ...?

Mandy likes to take a drink, hold the water in her mouth and then spit it out whilst returning to her hay net.
After a couple of mouthfuls, she repeats the process.

Funnily enough, she doesn't like to drink out of a bucket in the field - much prefers a trough that re-fills itself.

Molly puts her whole head in (which included her eyes the other day), swings her head really fast from side-to-side (splashing everything within a mile of the bucket/trough), has a drink and blows bubbles! She can hold her breath for a REALLY long time! I thought she was gonna drown the other day!!

I thought this was going to be about other sorts of drinking and was going to say that we had a pony, Bug, who loved his cup of tea or coffee and would pinch any left around. Sadly I have no pnotos of him with his head tipped back and a china mug carefully held between his teeth as he emptied it down his throat - he was also partial to a bacon butty.

Also I used to compete a pony mare, Gypsy, for someone years ago and as "payment" for a successful SJ round she used to demand a rum and blackcurrant from the beer tent. She'd take the plastic cup out of your hands and empty it and if she could possibly get hold of a packet of fags she'd chew them up with apparent enjoyment. Obviously she (and I) had a mis-spent youth.

Cropi also holds water in her mouth and slurps it down, she also much prefers to drink out of her field neighbours trough on the way through the field rather than her own buckets.

My dog sticks her whole head in her water bucket too, right over her eyes and blows bubbles

I don't believe my boy drinks anything at all since when he takes a slurp he then proceeds to dribble it all out over the fence post/stable door/me!

my boy drinks a huge amount, then sticks his tongue out and sucks all the water off it!!!

At shower time, he likes to grab the hose inbetween his teeth, and drink from it, with tonnes of water flowing out his lips.

He also won't drink from the trough in his stable at my house, but will drink from one in my friends stables v strange!!!

If Beau decides he wants a drink from one of the water butts from outside the stable while tacked up, he will put his whole face in the water up to his eyes nearly.

He also needs 2 trugs of water in his stable, one for dunking hay, and one for drinking from.

Chancer's treat at a show for doing well is either a can of Pepsi Max or diet coke with lime (luckily he doesn't like the cherry coke so I get it to myself).

I have taught him how to drink from the can - he holds it in his mouth and flips his head, then makes funny faces, dangles his tongue, chomps and asks for the can back.

Cairo likes a drop of tea and beer.
