Does your horse like lying down?

As title
Billy LOVES lying down - I've never seen a horse lie down so much in a field! Every morning, after he has been fed, he has his morning snooze lying down for usually around an hour - and nothing will budge him!! (he lives out). He does this lots of times (as I'm writing this he is currently lying flat out at the bottom of the hill) throughout the day and just seems to love lying down!
Does your horse lie down alot?

No, ginger horse is not a 'lying down' kind of chap He can, he just generally chooses not to. In 13 years I have never seen him lie down in a stable (though I know he does, particularly when he chooses to use fresh poo as a nice warm pillow ) and only a handful of times in the field. He's not a stressy/anxious horse in any way though; couldn't really be any more laid back

I would love G to be a lier-downer but unfortunately he enjoys a nice roll then gets back up to hang around upright! It would be lovely to catch him having a little lie down and to go give him a cuddle!

Mine, much like yours spends a huge amount of time lying down, he too lives out 24/7
He'll sleep for an hour or so after ive fed him in the morning and 9 times out of 10 hes back lying down at lunchtime, often flat out on his side if its warm or curled up if its cold!

Nitty is a real sleepy head and in the summer when she's out 24/7 I often find her zonked out in the sun. BH sleeps a bit less, but not much!

Yes, indeed, he loves his kip I seem to see him lying down a lot more at this time of year, I think he changes his snooze times in Spring and Summer.

He sleeps so soundly, you can carry out routine activities like hoof care, grooming etc.

Uses his teeth as a handy balance point.

Mine likes to sunbathe in warm weather, does it quite often but is very choosy as to who catches her at it. She does lie down in her stable but in twenty years I've only seen her a handful of times, it has to be quiet enough that she can hear its me. Daughters will lie down anywhere & only manners stop her rolling in anything soft. At her first show it was a hot day & when we untacked her after her first class she lay down in the grass in the lorry park, & did a dead pony impression.

My youngster is frequently to be found flat out or propped on his nose..sec A has only ever been spotted lying down once, but we know he does by the wet marks on his belly..he's clearly an early riser! Big Sec D boy has yet to be caught lying down - but he did doze off the other day in the sunshine, standing up with his nose drooped onto my belly button!!!!!!!! How much did I love him for doing that???!!!!!

generally she prefers to sleep around 6am so I don't often catch her in the stable, but the mass poo stains are there to serve as a constant reminder!

I do sometimes catch her out in the field asleep, but it tends to be when she's out 24/7 when she changes her sleeping patterns
