Lucy eats anything. LOL.
Once my brother had an orange he wanted to give her. I said he could and that she also eats the peel. I ment he should unpeel it feed her the segments then feed her the peel. But no my Brother (who has a very high IQ) Just fed her the whole thing out his hand like an apple. Juce went everywhere it was such a mess. Stupid boy.
My Clydesdale loves most fruit and i've tried and he loves strawberries, oranges, apples, pears, blackberries, blueberries, bananas, swede, parsnip, raspberries and of course carrots.
My Shire x TB only likes apples and carrots...he doesn't even like polos!!!
The supermarkets often reduce their soft fruit so when it's cheap my horse get treated...one of his 5 a day!!!
I have been known to go to a PYO fruit farm to get him a punnet of his favorites...strawberries!!!
And before you all think I'm poisoning my horse, i checked with my vet and apart from being amazed that my horse eats them and thinks i obviously have more money then sense to keep buying soft fruit he said he'll be fine.
Oh yes...when out on a hack there are blackberry bushes and have often rode back to the yard with a horse that looks like he's wearing purple lipstick!!!
Yes Izzy loves most food due to her being on months of box rest. Salt and vinigar crisps, banana, jam sandwich, biscuits - any will do, chocolate, grapes, in fact just about anything that we eat!!
My horse eats pretty much anything down to his paper bedding but he loves satsumas, any fruit infact. You have to watch yourself at a show, before you know it he's trying to eat ur hot dog, i hope its just the bread and tomato ketchup he likes!!!
I've never tried citrus fruit on him - but I will now! Ned adores banannas and all soft fruits. Like Sedgemore he adores blackberrying on hacks in the autumn. Banannas and jam sandwiches are a particualr favourite. He has also been known to snaffle ice cream and hot dogs etc from the unwary at shows! (Although it didn't occur to me it was the ketchup he was after!)
Harry looovveess them! Satsumas, oranges, strawberries, watermelon, and although I didn't think he liked bananas, I had one in the field on the ground yesterday and as I looked at him, saw it disappear into his mouth, skin and all lol!! He is not a fan of green veg though (brocolli, celery, asparagus, lettuce lol!)
Mine loves them and Oranges but you have to stand well back.
If you give him an Orange he holds it in his mouth and squeezes it till it goes pop and juice flies everywhere. He then sucks to get all the juice out before chewing and eating the rest while dribbling juice.
Goodness, my little event pony used to eat everything. Fruit's included. Once I was eating a pork pie and went to give him a pat and he stole it out of my hands... don't think it did him too much harm and he seemed to enjoy the pork!
