entered a showcross this yr took him x-country schooling 2 weeks before it,he hated it,jumped 2 fences whole time we were there(that was at the beginning)flatly refused to jump anything after that

withdrew entry!
His showjumping before that was great, coming on a treat, after the x-country he stopped at a cross pole,he got told off and started jumping again,we went showjumping on wed eve indoor and he was fab

So i have given up on the hunter trial thing and sticking to showjumping...anybody elses horse love one or the other?(as in flatly refuse to jump a solid or coloured fence?)so have had to set sights on the other!

Mine is fab at both.

If he was fine XC schooling, and fine SJ in competition - do you think you could have been giving him mixed signals in the showcross? I know when I did showcross, I used my short break in between to put on my BP as I never wear it to SJ, and would probably have given her different signals in the SJ section.

I think Gem prefers the brightly coloured variety as she flatley refused to go over a small log on a hack once

. Although if i was a bit more confident and determined at the time im sure she would have done it eventually, as she does love her jumping

!

Mine loves both but is probably a better show jumper than a cross country horse as he isn't always very brave cross country (or maybe its me who isn't so brave!)

H just loves jumping.

He has also been known to go 'visiting' next door by jumping a post and rail/hedge/wire fence. We only know this because he was seen jumping back into our field at the end of one of his 'visits'.

Mine loves SJ and is fab XC after the 1st 3 fences - they can be a bit sticky then we go from "do I have to mum" to the charge of the light brigade!!!
