Someone told me that garlic was good for keeping the flies away because when it was eaten it comes back out in the horses sweat, so if I use something like the Naff Garlic Powder will my horse smell all the time or is someone just having a laugh Any thoughts?

It is true but it wont be as strong as sticking your nose into a tub of garlic.

Its also true of us human beings. If we eat lots of garlic and then sweat we will also smell of it. Same goes for any strong food stuff, i.e. curry etc.

I read recently that it doesn't actually do anything for the flies and it has been implicated in gut problems. I'm lucky that I don't have to research this any further as my horse - and he's VERY fond of his tummy - won't touch any feed with garlic in it!
