hi, i am sure you lot are sick of me posting about rugs well, so am i, lol.
well i have got yet another rug for my boy, fits well, took him in today to start trainning him, ah he was so good, but to the point sorry. when took his light weight combo with NO filled off. his rug was wet inside in some areas, he must have been sweating, it wasnt too warm today so bit worried what to do.
what can i do now, got rug dried and after a few hours i when i was putting him out put rug on again. now it seems very happy with rug so he doesnt seem uncomfortable, would have blamed rain maybe but wasnt raining here yesterday or today. Also he was very happy when i took him in. just dont like the thought of him over heating.

i have had fly rug and he torn it to shreds in a day, so as usual wasting my money, got another was too big, so 3rd time lucky got this was great till i took it off today. he is not clipped but has a very very thin summer coat. would love a fly rug but cant aford to keep wasting money, for him just to shred it.

i have him in a field with electric fence all around but cant stop him rolling when he wants to, thats the only way he could have shreded the fly rug, must have rolled all night. please advise or help.

thanks for ready, cookie ice cream for all.

Only had a horse sweat in a no fill L/W rug once, the rug wasn't breathable, although I think it was supposed to be. Same horse was fine in a thicker rug of a different make, so it was certainly down the the rug.

What make is yours ?

got it on ebay from black eclipes, thats whats printed on rug. it says it 1200d and no fill just satin lined.

Is all lined rugs not breathable. Is that not right, seems wrong selling something not breathable. especially when i dint pay any cheapper for it.

No, I have some L/W rugs by Mark Todd, Weatherbeeta, Rambo, Fal etc which are breathable and very good in the rain.
It was a friend's L/W rug from the Big Horse shop that made the horse sweat.

Regarding the fly rug, have you thought about the weatherbeeta kool coat airstream combo ? Its a generous fit and the mesh panels enable the breeze to slightly lift the rug and let air under the cotton sections on a hot day.
Not so good when it rains as its mostly a cotton sheet, but on dry days its very effective and quite tough.

hi, thanks for reply. was looking at the airstream combo. but dont want anything with mesh in it at all. he just destroyed it. need something stronger that wont rip and breathable, dont mind if i only get a month out of it. but cant keep buying one every few days. cant believe my new lightweight no fill combo isnt breathable, that just sucks, sure its useless now to me. will have to keep on him till i get a new one sorted as dont want him rubbing himself, also he seems happy in it, even though he musnt be really if he was sweating even just a wee bit of sweat, as it wasnt that warm today.
just need to find something.
