Does your horse wear a bigger sized rug in the stable?

Am I the only horsey owner that uses a bigger sized rug in the stable than out in the field?

My TB is a 6' in his turn out and 6' 3" in his stable rug ( when he wears one, once he is clipped! )
My old Welsh X Hackney is turned out in a 5' 9" and his stable rug is 6'
My theory behind this is that it needs to fit well out in the field when they are moving about however in the stable they need to be snug as a bug in a rug, and with little movement they do not pull back but cover more .... am I the only odd bod around here with this theory??????

Umm ours our all the same but the stable rugs are probably bigger, but bought them as the same size as the turnouts.

Yep actually. My old horse was in a 6'6 in all rugs but my new mare is a bit bigger. She fits in my old 6'6 turnout rugs fine but the same size stable rugs are all too tight and I've had to get her 6'9s.

Axey has a 6ft 3 t/o rug but a 6ft stable rug as the 6 3 was massive on him.

We use the FAL dual purpose rugs, so they have the same rugs on inside and out more often than not. Or changed to a different FAL rug if they need thicker or thinner rug on.

Mine is same in and out BUT the stable one have chest extender for the underrugs other wise it's too tight round the chest (he got horseware wardrobe)

5 years ago my old mare was 6'0/6'3 depending on rugs, when she died, i inheiriated current horse and during that time i couldn't really afford new rugs so i used some of her rugs with chest extender, his bum was showing alot. it did help me financally... a year on he was filling out well (exracer) and doing well so i bought new T/O, thought i better measure him... he's 6'9 at best pushing to 7ft! Bless him he never complained of hand me downs... Now he got full wardrobe of 6'9's and wears chest extender for the stable rug to allow him more room with underrugs.

Mine usually has a 5'3" but has a lovely 5'6 turnout that she wears over her thin-ish stable rug in the stable at night, because my friend bought it for her normally 5'6 horse but it was too short so Sandy got it as her Xmas pressie!!
