Sniff poo?!

My boy seems to have a habit of stopping to sniff other horses poo on a hack.
He maybe think he's a dog instead!

Sometimes, not all the time though. And hardly ever when I'm riding him, usually when turning out/bringing in.

Yes mine does, I always thought he was a bit daft ha ha! :D
I thought it was just his way of checking who had been along the path before him kind of thing, I tend not to let him do it whilst ridden though :o

Of course they do, it is their way of seeing who has been there and if they know them. Stallions do it a great deal, but so do my geldings and mares.

My gelding does this, hes the most inquisitve animal ive ever met! Also eats my mares poo when shes in season but aparently thats the hormones in it!

Mine do this. I think it's like when my dog has to sniff every lamp post to see who has gone along there before. Same reason.

I always thought that this was the reason as well. At least my horse doesn't sniff as often as my dogs, it would take forever to turn him out if he did!

I was told that this was a horse asserting dominance over it's handler.....

Then again this was by the same person who told me to slap my horse's penis so please take it with a pinch of salt!
