Is your ned's coat looking moth eaten ? My boy's looking very like a worn out velvet sofa which has seen too much life!
Ned has bald patches in various different areas, where he has rubbed off the old coat , but the new one hasn't come through yet! He sure looks a bit of a mess close up!
I think it must be due to the very cold winter we have had that has delayed the new coat coming through.
 
Yep my TB looks like a moth eaten cloth horse!! my cob looks like a wooly teddy her coat has stopped coming out and gone back to fluffy! think the drop in temps has not helped!!
 
He is looking worse today as ned has now rubbed away more patches of his old coat which is brittle and the new coat has only arrived in certain places!
 
yup - all patchy where the winter coat is falling out and the new one isn't coming through quickly enough. Not attractive! :)
 
Hey I'm glad it's not just mine! After being in extremely poor condition when I bought him 2 months ago he is looking a different horse but I can't wait to get rid of all the long woolly coat. Today he has patches of beautiful bay summer coat on his cheeks, shoulders and flanks. Everywhere else is thick hair! Quite exciting seeing what he looks like underneath all the hair
 
All my bays aren't looking too bad, Bear's 2 tone, where his rug was is brighter than his neck and legs lol, my dun welshy looks awful! He looks like a leapord with gold/black/ginger and chocolate colours in him! The pic of the dun in my sig was him in Oct '09, gawd knows what colour he's going this year, choc dun would be nice ;)
They have all slowed down again malting now, Norman (dun) has shed his top long coat and Im struggling to get the thick shorter one out!
 
Yep! My little Hafi looks awful just now with a few patches of nice shiny chestnut and the rest a horrid dull orangey shade. The chestnut bits are smooth and lovely and the rest is like a shaggy rug that needs a good vacuuming. It's coming out in handfuls too so I'm generally covered in it!

My TB has shed enough coat to fill a sofa and he still looks like its deepest darkest winter around his belly. I made it even worse yesterday as he was really woolly on his shoulders and I just pulled a little bit - but then it just came away so I kept going. Now he has dapple bay shaggy shoulders. Its not a good look :D
 
lol ....well girls sorry to be the odd one out but my little girls coat it looking lovely and shiney even if she has changed colour again, she is what i call a bay roan and is now 10 yrs old but she has never been the same colour 2 seasons running, . When we clipped her last year she was grey, this year she was dark bay , then went bright bay, now she is like a shiney conker :-) clip lines on her legs have nealy gone and ready for showing.
 
Yup!! mine look minging!! meant to be taking 2 to a show this weekend, I hope everyone else is in the same boat!! I'm gonna just clip the cob - she needs de feathering anyway so it's easier to just chop the lot off!!
 
Funnily enough I posted about this the other day. My old mare is frankly a
shocker at the moment! Even through my rose tinted glasses I can see
that she looks more like mule than an elegant equine
