My OH suffixes 'tard' onto the end of Baz's name - but has a valid reason after he took a chunk out of him a couple of year's back. (I'm sure they love eachother really)
Vardi gets referred to by OH as the Spotty Arsed Circus Horse which tends to cause some raised eyebrows especially from the other Appaloosa owners on the yard
My OH is very complimentary of my horses - he called my old boy 'special horse' (he was one in a million, we sadly lost him in September). My other cob is affectionately called 'old rubber lips' - it suits him!!
He is not at all keen on horses and particularly dislikes my current mare who he calls 'it' or 'the thing'.
He was a bit fonder of my old horse and called her 'Elvis' (something to do with her forelock?)
Horses in general are 'wee b**tards'!
It is all said with tounge in cheek though - he has a weird sense of humour.
Good grief!! There are so many OH's that need an almighty kick up the a*se!!! To say such nasty things about the animals their partners love is quite horrifying- they should love the horses that give so much pleasure to the people they love. Lots of jealousy by the sounds of it- I have never understood men being jealous of horses, but it seems all too common.
This thread has rather depressed me actually.
My OH has many 'pet' names for my horse that are his name with bits added on- all are affectionate. He loves that my horse gives me so much joy and does not begrudge the time I spend with him- in return I love OH all the more. Everyone's a winner. I wish more men could see that is how it should work.
Crikey, don't you have a sense of humour Sare?
That's a bit tough, we're not all lovey dovey in everything we say and do.
I'd hate for my OH to be soft like that, wouldn't suit him or me for that matter; 'Beefburgers' does me just fine, it's all tongue in cheek anyway and he does a lot for them for me. I've been married nearly 40 years now, don't think I'd change my OH's sense of humour now and I wouldn't want to either, it's one of the reasons we get on so well even after all this time.
