Just being nosey, whose "partner" owns a horse?

What does he/she do with said horse?

Do you have to provide most of the care or is a equal thing?

My boyfriend has now got a horse after many years working with them. He drives, ploughs and mows normally until I got my hand on him and have taught him to ride his new horse :) well he stays on and can steer and stop in walk at the moment.

No. I have enough for both of us:D

Not interested (but he is, bless his little socks, down in the bottom paddock building a shelter as I sit here keeping an eye on a whelping bitch- x2 at the moment)

My OH bought himself one. Doesn't ride him that often but has a lesson every week! Having said that he'd never had a pet of any description until we met!! I do most of the looking after but if he's home on time he always helps feed and mucks out etc on wkends. He also looks after them all if I'm away - everything from foals to Grade A's.....! I'm very lucky to have him!

Just me who has horses, my boyfriend will come down to the yard occasionaly and help out and once in a blue moon will ride mums pony in the school, says he values his life too much to get on mine :D not sure why he says that though.

My OH had never even stroked a horse before he met me, on our first date 20 odd years ago I said to him "I have to go do my horse first" he still maintains he should have run a mile at that point, however he soon decided if he couldn't beat them he'd join them, he now has his own horse which he drives and he loves her (she gets more kissing and cuddles than me :D) he does his equal share of the "work" in fact he probably does more than me as he's self employed so works his own hours, and always does the morning shift, he's great really although I still like to moan at him wherever possible ;)

My BF hadn't touched a horse till he met me but he is brilliant about helping me muck out etc. He held my bolshy five year old for me to clip today and did an amazing job. I felt all proud actually. I hope said bolshy five year old will eventually become his (once I get him going a bit) so I can focus on my Nitty pony who I'll have to back next year. He would like to go showjumping. I think they will be very happy together as long as I don't teach him to ride! Tried once on my old mare.Disaster! I imagine if all this actually happens I'll do most of the work as technically both are mine and I'm the one that knows what they're doing. I'd have to supervise anyway so might as well do it myself!

Fingers crossed it all comes off

MY OH has 5 and I have 8, I do the lions share of the work because he works long hours but then on his days off, or if I'm working he will do what is needed. I also tend to do farrier, which is like a military operation with so many to bring in and most vet visits.

I have to say that his 5 horses take a lot more looking after than my ponies!

No - husband is politely interested from the other side of the fence, is frightened of them and thinks they take up all the time I should be tending to him! But he's lived with it for long enough to cope. And he does like all that lovely amnures for his veggies!

My OH has his own, his parents had horses before he was born so he has ridden all his life. He competes BSJA up to 1.30m but I do most of the care because I am at the yard more than him :D Im sure he thinks im his groom

I have 1 and the OH is trying to buy one- he'd never even seen a horse in the flesh untill he mat me 7 years ago- he can ride and in fact is a much more natural rider than me- was trotting in his first lesson (jealous ? Me.....? )

Yep, we have one each. I had been horsey when younger and when I met him he had his mare, so it seemed a good plan for me to get back in to it (any excuse tbh!). So, I then brought my mare. He does bsja with his and a bit of dressage too, my mare is super green so I am bringing her on. I do more of the 'work' side - he pretty much gets his mare on full livery some weeks! Does he appreciate it? Does he heck!!
