All my tack is brown (dark havana) as it's what I prefer. However I'm looking for second hand saddle and the only ones I like and that fit are black.

Does it matter? Will I regret buying black? My horse is dark brown btw.

Saddle and bridle are both black - but having said that, the saddle is synthetic and the bridle is leather, so not a complete match!

Personally, I think it looks smarter if it matches, but for general use it's not the end of the world if it doesn't

My bridle is pink & my saddle is havannah...
haha.

But I much prefer matching tack if it weren't for the fact it's PINK.

Nope! Well, kind of, i have a black wintec bridle & saddle, but my breast plate is brown leather.

Woo hoo! I have a pink bridle too! For my gelding! I always say it takes a REAL man to wear pink. It's a very nice quality leather one and is more sort of raspberry (!) than pink. Got a sensible black one too, but I'm afraid it has a Pink Equine browband with rose crystals. If you like all things pink it's bl**dy ace: if you don't, it's totally naff! Me and numnah always have some pink to match but VERY tasteful (ahem). My local tack shop saves me new pink things and it took months for them to know I had a name and wasn't just The Pink Lady! My only excuse is that I didn't have a chance to grow out of this when 10 yrs old!!!!!

Fit first, colour second.

My home tack can be a mix, depending on what bit I use, what I grab first etc, but on the whole the majority is havana.

beau's home stuff is black but mostly through coincidence, her jumping saddle is a two tone brown stubben so that doesn't even match itself!!! it does have a matching 2 tone bridle tho.

the old bag, lottie has her original black bridle and again through fluke a black saddle. I sold her really nice one when I retired her but bought her a much older cheap and cheerful as we still go for a short spook and bolt about once a week when she's in good health

Hope, if she is ever well enough to ride, will inherit Maggie-may's (sadly for sale) saddle when she goes, it's brown. Both Maggie-may and Hope have black bridles but at home who cares and out hacking who notices!!

You can get nice 2nd hand bridles places like ebay obviously you could sell the offending wrong coloured one there to recoup the cost, and new bridles for around £25 which while not a stubben are reasonable quality and look ok if matching matters to you.

The saddle is the more important and more costly, buy the best fit for you and your horse that you can find and afford then worry about the colour of your bridle later, that's what we always do. x

I have black on my mare, but she is iron grey and brown doesn't seem to suit her. I would say that as long as the fit is right and the horse is happy who cares what anyone thinks.

(However i would suggest if you go for a black saddle you pick up a cheap bridle in black even if it's it second hand english leather for continuity)

Toodles!

all my tack matches but each horse has a different colour, makes life easier when explaining to people whos is whos lol

Ellie - is all tan (pessoa tan)
Lux - is all havana
Dunlop - is all black (its the only colour that suited him)

It was from my local tack shop for the bargain price of £22!
It's not super quality, about as good (bad) as Kincade but it looks fab -
Barbie pink with a white lined browband & flash & pink and WHITE RUBBER reins! (my fav part).

I'll need to take a photo of my poor quine lol...

Black saddle, havana bridle.

My OH bought me new stirrups leathers for Christmas, Stubbens in black (I already had the same in brown) which I was a bit confused about as I had a brown Wintec. Now I have a fab Origins Grandee, which has blue studs at the cantle, and surprise surprise, the black leathers have blue studs which match at the ends! So finally I have something on my horse which matches!

My saddle is two tone brown "mulberry" and black.
I am hopelessly bridle obsessed and have havanna, well worn London tan, yellow reflective webbing, Dr Cooks "beta" web...but my favourite is my neon PINK bitless bridle. But hey, I'm one of these mad endurance nuts, I'm allowed to have mad coloured tack.
