Dog almost scared us to death

Tonight, our old lab, ably assisted by our two young labs, participated in a raid on the bin bag whilst OH was on the phone. One chicken bone later an emergency visit to the vet followed...... Keep your fingers crossed for her please that it is a scratch in her throat only and not a foreign body as it passes through her system !!!!!

Thanks Cala. We're back to the vet in the morning for a follow up visit. He couldn't see anything stuck and after the steroids and antibiotics she has stopped the choking noises now

Thank you - she will be sleeping in the bedroom with us tonight just in case ! Hopefully she'll be ok to be back in her bed in the kitchen tomorrow night

Hope she is ok - I have to say our old lab would be using that as an excuse to sneak up on the bed!! I assume it was a cooked bone she got?
i know its no help but the last time my sister had to take her lab to vet for eating something - god knows what as is typical lab dustbin! - vet said the lab before her had eaten a mobile and the owners only realised when it started ringing! Lab had a close call(!) but was ok!

She did get to sleep next to our bed last night just in case (and never moved the whole time

) We went back to the vet for a follow up today and although her throat is still very red and swollen he thinks that she'll be on the mend very soon. She's on antibiotics to make sure there's no infection, so one large bill later looks like she's going to be ok. Phew !
