Dog and turkey bones

On Sunday night my boy raided the bin (not a normal activity) and helped himself to the turkey thigh bones. On Monday afternoon he had terrible diarrhea and this continued through to Wednesday morning but he was still bright and acting normal and eating. Last night he didn't want his tea or supper so I gave him half a tin of ID dog food which he ate and his stool was a little firmer last night although not a full poo. This morning he didn't want breakfast but begrudgingly ate the ID food again. Normally I would just keep an eye on him at this stage but we fly out to America tomorrow morning so I'm not sure if I should take him to the vet to check him today rather than leave the dog sitter to make the decision. I spoke to the vet yesterday and they said they would xray him if he came in as they can't tell enough on a normal exam, really not sure what to do, he is a sensitive soul who intermittently goes off his food anyway....

For future reference (hopefully you won't need to!) I wouldn't have fed for at least 24 hours after the original gorging and the runs, esp if already sensitive.
I'd get him to the vet quick to rule out a blockage or perforation, tbh.

Hope he picks up soon!
 
Thanks, appointment is booked for this afternoon, OH just kept saying "he's fine, stop worrying" because he often gets a bad tummy or sometimes stops eating for no reason but I'm not going to feel better unless I take him even though he is still bright and active and begging for treats.

And in fact, if the dog has become unwell your dog sitter may well refuse to take him.

So yes, vet today.
