The other day my mum's friend was walking with her 3 dogs (staffy, collie and collie x).
she saw 2 women with 2 akitos coming towards her. she put staffy on the lead as he runs up barking (because he is a staffy some people think he's dangerous and find it scary, but he is really the sweetest dog ever!), the collie x is really old and was far behind and the collie was walking beside them.

As soon as the 2 Akitos saw them- they charged towards them and my mum's friend said it looked like they wanted to kill. one akito grabbed the staffy by the neck and was shaking it- the poor staffy was screaming :( the other akito grabbed the collie by the neck. My mums friend and the women she was with just tried to grab one akito each with the risk of being bitten.

They managed to get them off- by this time the 2 owners came over and said "oh they have never done that before". the collie had to go to the vets with puncture wounds- the staffy was veryyyy shaken up. my mums friend asked for their address and phone number & tried to take a picture of the 2 women on her phone.

when they got home they found out the number & address are fake. the police dont care because it was a dog on dog attack.

Its so upsetting and scary that this happened right outside my house- what if a child was there?? could have ended up seriously hurt. also the collie x is really old and luckily the akitos did not go for him, thankgod otherwise he could have been dead...

we have also had another problem around here with a guy with a staffy who has been banned from a nearby park so now walks on the woodlands opposite my house. my nan saw him the other day pinning the staffy to the floor trying to get a muzzle on him- while a man was standing next to him checking his GSD over to check for puncture wounds.

people really frustrate me, if you know your dog is dangerous then PUT IT ON A LEAD!!!

Tell her to get an incident number from the police, so it's at least logged for future use, and give a description of the owners and dogs to the local dog warden so they can keep an eye out. A dog-dog attack is not a criminal offense unfortunately, though it is a civil offense so the owners could be taken to court for damages to your mum's friend's "property" (that's what dogs are in the eyes of the law).

Your mum's friend might want to get her dogs used to a Pet Corrector spray (you desensitize them to the noise at home) and carry one on her to use in emergencies, it may not stop a really persistant dog but may buy some time with many dogs.

Btw, not having a dig but just so you know, it's Akita rather than Akito.

ahah wooops *Akita then :)
It was in Epsom, Surrey. the owners said they were from kingston- dont know weather this was true. My mum's friend also said they were foreign.

we have told EVERYONE we know about these dogs, and when we see people in the woodlands where it happened we warn them. my step dad is a police man- he emailed other police stations asking if they had had any reports- all calls to the police are logged so hopefully something may come up

Ohhhhh interesting- i live in Epsom. but a very similar thing happened to a lady i met walking an older collie in Copthorne woods the other week- again 2 Akita's involved,
