Elderly dog needs something more than he currently has but-he's always been a bit princess and the pea about beds and also loves having covers etc on top to mash around for pillows etc.

Seems as though options are a Tuffies but think they might be a bit too firm? Or a Milliard Orthopedic foam. I do not mind spending the money on something that won't flatten out/get lumpy etc etc

TIA

Orvis do memory foam beds in a variety of shapes/sizes with changeable covers. My 12 year old has one with a blanket (in summer) or small duvet (in winter) on top that he nests in.

I made my own, got some nice material off esty and then measured how big I wanted it and then sew it up leaving a opening one end then I got a big king size quilt and folded it up, put it in the cover. Que nice big and fluffy bed for big collie :)

The Orvis look nice, thanks for that-a bit meep at the prices though (£100 or less would be good). I did make my own with a memory foam off cut once but even that got flat and hard in places and he never seemed hugely happy with it (I sometimes think though, he'd only be happy in one of our beds!).

I change the quilt every six months or so to stop it getting to the lumpy stage. It's then goes to the rabbit hutches outside for winter

The truffies are unbeatable, IMO. Our veteran lurcher adores his as do the 15yo terriers. If you want a softer version they do a "sink in" bed also.

I would post pictures of mine as I have a range (having so mnay dogs) and the ones we have just had made for our rescue but I do not know how to post pictures anymore :(

Stick a single duvet on top and wash the cover when needed.

One of mine loves his tuffie, the youngsters tend to cwtch together on the one that's off the floor (in sig, it's orthopaedic and indestructible!) although this is best bed ever, TKMaxx, never seen one like it again, but the girl who made their bathrobes also makes beds to order, like this!

Oh well. I don't read reviews. Have ordered a couple of beds and will report back.

I really hope they are great :) I just figured I had spent so much on beds in the past, I should have just bought the Tuffies then and didn't want to risk another £60. There were some good reviews and you know what its like, people only review when they're hacked off.

that one looks better than my bed!

I have just bought some new vet bed (for the cats as well) so will try that :)

his favourite blanket though is his thermatex one-its the only thing he'll lay on when he's wet/paws are wet-they are excellent.

Well so far so good. Arrived promptly and look great. Hopefully will last :-)

Cinnamon Toast,I have a bed very, very similar to the one in your pic (with the 'bolster cushion' type edges on 2 sides and the soft, fleecy square in the middle).
It is from Costco, they still have them,(small range of colours/patterns) and it was less than £30/35? It's perhaps a little bigger than yours,as my 2 GSPs take up a similar area on it as your spangles do on yours!

Though I have (and highly rate and would always recommend if you have the £££) Tuffies beds, they are pretty heavy (the L and XL sizes that we have are,at any rate),due to their fab robustness and not easily manoeuvrable when hoovering etc,so I wanted something lighter,to fit in a corner, next to a patio door. The dogs love it,especially the bolster 'pillow' and the kids are often on it with them, for a cuddle,it's so comfy.
Had it for about 2 years now, still looks well with an occasional hoover and it has a zip-off washable cover, too.
If I could work out how to post a pic,I would...

Sheepskin bought from ikea topped with a soft foam dog bed from local pet shop. Cosy, comfy, cheap, washable and the old boy loves it!

I have an XL and it is heavy, the plan was to take it in the van every day to work and then transfer to the house so still on the look out for something good in the van really. He does love it though (have a waterproof one with his flectabed on top) and because its relatively high he finds it easier to get up off it. I am sure its more comfortable than our couch that is in dire need of restuffing!

Hugo & Hennie - beautiful fabrics and they last well. They do memory foam options too. I have 3 of their beds (for one very pampered pooch) and they've all lasted well with plenty of life left in them.
