The inuits and GSD are kenelled (apart from madam and her 8 babies

) well at the mo they're on shavings. I have a feed room (as I feed BARF) and the kennels are washed out every morning, however I need the feed room as I'm keeping Skye's daughter and don't put more than 2 in each 9 x 15 (with 9 x 10 runs) so they'll be fed in their kennels (obviously kept clean) I'm buying those really sturdy plastic beds but its what to put in them???

I can't use straw or shavings because they'll take their dinner into it and it would all get stuck up and yucky. Brier chews everything!! So it has to be chew proof as possible but also comfy for them. The only ones I found that do a chew proof bed don't do a big enough one and they're £200.00 a piece which x 3 is a bit too expensive. I also love the Igloo plastic beds that were at 'All about dogs' but they're £240 each again I can't really afford to spend £920 on 3 beds

So I was thinking of putting some sort of bedding in the plastic oval beds (you know the type you see everywhere) question is what do I put in them? Got to try and be chew proof as I said or is that completely unrealisitic? The only beds I've seen are £90.00 each and with the sturdy plastic beds that still comes to £130 each kennel.....

Hmmm...any ideas?

I guess you could use Vetbed. They are easy to wash and keep clean and are supposed to be warm, although they never really struck me as looking warm.

If it was me, I'd stick with straw; they will be able to eat around the bits stuck to their meat and even if they ate some straw would it be an issue for them? It would mean you could muck out their beds every day.

Pups are on vetbed and it is pretty warm, just wonder how long it would last before being chewed by Brier, though its not too expensive on Ebay anyway if you buy by the roll.

They used to be on straw for a while and it keeps clean for a long time but I'd be worried about them eating any straw as I can't imagine it'd be good for their digestive systems or easy to 'pass'. Maybe I'll have to build a feed room

Just a thought, nice old fashioned wool blankets, you can pick them up from the charity shops really cheaply and just throw them away and replace.

Just a thought, could you not feed them in their run and just shut them out the kennel while feeding??

My mum suggested that last night!! How dumb am I?

She said hose one run down in the afternoon, feed then hose it down again. Cheaper way...

I have lots of those, hotel chuckouts as the terriers bedding so could be a thought if the feeding in the runs doesn't work out.

Thanks everyone.
