Once again I'm on the hunt for beds for the dogs. I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time and money on dog beds...

The dogs they're for are average size Rotties, who both like to stretch out. One likes a bit soft and raised so he can rest his head on it.

They're outside most of the day, but will come in a few times, and at the moment they're coming in wet (Scotland living up to its rain quota!), which is soaking the beds. I tried putting waterproof mattress protectors on, but they just dug them up and off. I'd happily keep their big bed aside and just use them in the evenings, just have something else for during the day.

Both dogs like soft. Preferably squidgy. Both have a touch of arthritis so I want them to be as comfy as possible.

Any suggestions? I can offer a Grotty cuddle by way of thanks.

Well, my dog likes her bed to be about 5’ wide, 6’6” long and with a memory foam mattress and goose down duvet. For something squidgy, she has my stomach to use as a pillow.

Sorry, nothing constructive to add as she never actually uses the dog beds that I have bought for her. During the day she slums it on the leather sofa, which I have pretty much given over to her.

I have two Snug and Cosy beds. Large size for day and extra large for night so she can stretch out.
The cushions get a bit lumpy over time so have memory foam. Her night bed has memory foam, the cushion and a folded up duvet.

We got a memory foam mattress type dog bed from Wayfair when the Rott was living with bladder cancer and needed something extremely comfortable to lie on. It fitted her and the 2 Labs on at the same time. She slept on it by herself overnight while the Labs were crated.

Eta, we still have it, the brown one loves to stretch out on it.

Tuffies ......,mattress and nest types. I have found the wipe clean to be best, they dry quickly if wet. Lots of different coloured beds and covers to choose from.

Mine have these with waterproof mattresses and fleece blankets on top.

You can get a waterproof inner cover so the bed doesn’t end up soggy if they’re soaked as well. They are huge- 3 collies fit easily on the jumbo, 4 if they squish up a bit!

We like ‘Petfusion’ brand, from Amazon. The bed is low enough for little stiff legs, but it’s also supportive and comfortable memory foam for old bones. The surrounding bolster is supportive but squishy enough to be a great pillow, and the inner bed has plenty of room to spread out if you get a big enough size.

The cover can be taken off easily to be washed, and there’s a waterproof inner as well. If you get the cream bed, it has a Sherpa fleece outer for extra snuggliness.
