But he did go and get it checked out, and A&E sent him home, so its more a story about dont ever trust the NHS sadly.

Exactly this, but there's nowhere else to go for emergencies. But he did go and get it checked out, and A&E sent him home, so its more a story about dont ever trust the NHS sadly.
111 and A&E are useless when it comes to dealing with people on immunosuppressants, I spent a bank holiday weekend going round in circles after exposure to chicken poxExactly this, but there's nowhere else to go for emergencies.
I'm on immunosuppressants so dog bites are particularly dangerous. Advice from my rheumatology dept and 111 is to start antibiotics within 4 hours. Try telling that to the receptionist in A&E where the waiting time is 8 hours plus. When I told the nurse treating me she had never heard of my medication, didn't seem to know what immunosuppressed meant and repeatedly asked me if I had been to see my GP first before coming to A&E. Err no, I was bitten after the phone lines closed at GP surgery and an appointment in 3 weeks time won't help if the deep puncture wound causes sepsis.
