hi
i have 2 black labs, one of whom is causing us problems in the car! if we have the cage in the car then there isnt a problem, she lies down & goes to sleep. however the cage takes up a lot of room in the car so cannot be left in there permanently (as seats need folding down) & if my mum is on her own then it is difficult to get the cage in & out the car. if the cage isnt there then bess jumps onto the back seat from the boot & when you're driving she wants to come forward into the front which is obv very dangerous. we have tried a dog guard but cannot get one that fits our car (a ford fusion) well & she still tries to get past it, knocking it & scaring herself even more & often gets past it.
I was wondering if a dog car harness might help & if so how do they work? i tried attaching her normal walking harness to the seat belt but this didnt really work as she just pulled the seatbelt down with her when she came forwards & got distressed as the seat belt was wrapping around her when she moved.
any advice on whether a car harness would be suitable or any other solution would be greatly appreciated
