How do these work. The old one I have attaches to the seat belt but if dog moves the seat belt doesnt "catch" like it would if someone was jerked forward
in an accident etc, it just reels out. Are there other types that attach more firmly ?

Do you loop it through both bits of the seatbelt? Ie chest strap and lap strap?

Ive just swapped to one of the "catch" ones rather than clip in and it does work (tested by hand not crashing lol)

ETA- found pic (huge pic sorry!)

I have got one which is a harness with a short webbing lead that clips straight into the seat belt clip, and for if the dog is already wearing a harness I also have a short webbing link one end of which clips to the harness , and the other clips into the seat belt clip. Both are easy to use and the dogs seem happy.

my friend has one for her dog (medium sized ) . It goes with a "booster seat" so the dog can look out the window easily! You strap the "seat" in with the seat belt like a childs seat then the dog harness clips to the seat.

We have one of these for the wee dog ?

I'm not too keen on how I think the unit would react in the case of an accident, so I clip her harness to the headrest as well. It doesn't impede her, she's diddy so almost bobberall strain on the headrest if she did go flying, and I'm happier about it.

The booster seat goes on front or back seat. On the front I put a cushion between it and the seat back to fill in the gap.

Not that this wee dog is pampered in any way. Oh no.

Have you seen these?

i recently changed my car from a vw touran with an enormous boot,to a vw cross, where the dogs now sit on the back seat, harnessed ,attached by Strong leather leads to a carabiner ( mountaineers rope clip from decathlon),clipped to the seat headrests.
We discovered this metal divider, which is put between the space of the two front seats... We have been stopped by the control..the Italian carabinieri looked at the set up and we were passed to go..
