I have just paid £35 for a coat for my dog. I have also just paid £80 for a horse rug. Horse rug is about 6 times larger, why are dog coats so expensive ?

i suppose it is still about the same amount of time to make and stitch?

my dog coats are weatherbeeta/todd/masta and think very good for about £15.

I like Friday Fox and Blizzard coats. You can pay as much for some posh dog coats as you would for a horse rug, have a look around the net. £35.00 is not bad.

As someone has said, I guess it still takes the same amount of skill and time to make. It is usually horsey stuff that is at a premium price though.

How can it take the same amount of time ? Smaller product ,less materials, less stitching ? (made in China ) This is not a posh dog coat either, just a smaller version of a horse rug essentially, but a large size !

I have dog drying coats from ruff and tumble, they cost about £40 for the size my retriever wears.

They are fantastic quality and fit, have been finished to a high standard and I like the fact that they are a family business with wonderful customer service.

The above, plus the fact that they will take time to make, makes me think they are incredibly good value for money. £40 will just about get me a decent bottle of gin or half a set of shoes, or just under 15minutes legal advice from your average rural solicitor.
