Do your dogs use them are they worth getting?

Winnie is normally fine but Mavis seemed hot and just kept laying on the tiled floor indoors, I got my ice gel pads out of the freezer and put them between a thin towel, she layer on it for a bit but then didn't go back to it.

She does like our fans in the lounge and will position herself infront of those, but I really wanted something to put in the shade outside.

My German Shepherd loves hers. I had put it away for the winter and got it out on Monday. She laid on it straight away and went settled immediately. She’s actually on it now in preference to her usual place on the sofa!

Very dog dependent in my experience.

Some will lie on them for a short while. Others scrape them up and lie on what's underneath. I put plastic bottles of frozen water in with my dogs under their mats and they seem to do as well as or better than on the cool mats Hasten to add, I have fans, park in shade, have alumet car covers and leave tailgate and windows and side doors open underneath the cover. Will also take said dogs swimming/drench in cold water before leaving.

Mitch seems unimpressed with his, didn’t have a choice in the cage but chose to lie on the tiles behind the playpen rather than the mat. Not going to force it. He’s currently lying by our feet on the lawn.

The hooligan decided to try chewing his… they don’t stand up well to that so he no longer has one! This is also the reason he no longer has a paddling pool either! I put hard plastic ice blocks under towels for him if really hot and he’s got a battery powered mini aircon thingy that I can point at him

I bought a couple for my outdoor cafe after watching quite a lot of people drag their dogs here in heatwaves. Some dogs love them, others don’t. I think they have to get used to them/work them out sometimes. A child sat on one on Sunday and said it was really cold. I keep wondering whether to put one in my bed now I’m having hot flushes!

My sister uses cool mats, not sure what sort, to keep cool at night. She can't open a window as in a bungalow on a main road but these keep her cool.

My dog uses hers, she won't settle there for the evening but she'll often get off the sofa, go to her cool mat and then come back to the sofa when she's cooled down sufficiently.

I have one I tuck in my pillow, and a larger one i pop under my fitted sheet, they work really well and you can even freeze them for extra chill if required
