Have tried bathing him with medicated shampoo but hasn't made a jot of difference. His skin doesn't appear to bother him, not scratching more than usual. He has a very dense undercoat and then lots of glossy fur on top so it's difficult to actually get to his skin with shampoo or brush. Any tips on how to get rid of it. Am sickof it shedding over my house and car!

He's a schipperke - if you've heard of them! Small, black and very fluffy. He hates heat, so stays as far away from any heat source as possible. Could be diet, but he eats lots of oily fish for his joints (had surgery for arthritis last year) and takes glucosamine. Could be a skin infection, I guess, but problem will be getting a treatment on to it without shaving off all of his fur - and that would not be a pretty sight afterwards!

yeah Ive heard of em, cute lil doggies

Old dog show judge and breeder here.
Old dog show trick for dandruff and itchy skin. Get listerine mouth wash, dilute 1/2 with water. Spray doggy each time doggy is itchy. It will stop secondary skin infection, help the itchyness and the dandruf will disappear.
Secondly add some sort of coat conditioner to the dog. Coat grows from the inside out as we used to say, so make sure to add a bit of oil in his food.
Good luck!
Love ya
