Grossly not that uncommon. More unusual to be fatal, but very unpredictable as obviously no idea between weed (very predictable and known treatment) and… almost anything they can come up with.
If you overdose and then vomit, they quite like to eat that too… even cats can do that?!

That’s why I don’t let my dogs eat anything - even horse muck, you don’t know when they were last wormed with Strongid and the like (and they are JRT not susceptible breeds) - it’s too horrible to contemplate

I used to walk in a park used by families and dog walkers by day and God knows who at night. Sometimes there would be empty baggies, condoms, vomit, pizza crusts, chips, bottles, cans. Hats off to the Friends of the Park who clean this stuff up.
One day the big girl was playing chase with a lab and they disappeared behind some bushes and didn’t reappear. When I went to investigate they were eating human faeces
. Was I glad I had taught her ‘leave it’.
There was a woman whose dog (a lab) would hoover up dog shit, food, you name it that dog ate it. The owner was walking with me one day and she ran , face contorted, growling at the dog when it was eating something. I mean WTAF. I was embarrassed for her. When I was walking with her on another occasion and she did the growling business again it was clear her approach to ‘training’ the dog was ineffective and I asked if she had thought about teaching the dog to ‘leave it’ and went through the process with her. She either didn’t grasp it or preferred making a fool of herself. I mean, if someone wants to show themselves up that’s fine but don’t do it when you are walking with me.
