Not going to give any more details yet as not sure that we're definitely getting him, but what breeds do you think are in this lad? Currently 8 months old.
I don't know the answer so its not a trick question, I am genuinely wanting to know.
Thanks

Ears set that far apart are very collie. There may be a bit of whippet a few generations back. And I would say terrier....JRT or Lakeland.....cant see a lot of lab there tbh.

Difficult as can't see head close up, but looks Collie x Lab x possible Staff ie. Looks a lovely little chap though, hope it all works out well for you both!

Thanks all. We went for a second viewing today and have decided to adopt him. He is off to be neutered later this week and then they want to keep him to check he is ok and that he is ok with his stitches so it will probably be a couple of weeks before he can come home. We go away in 5 weeks and I was a bit concerned about putting him into kennels again, but the shelter are going to take him back for the week that we are away which is great as it's only a very small shelter with only a few dogs so he will be aware of his surroundings. The vet has said that he is collie x lab, but I also see something else in there.

Great news. Congratulations!!! Look forward to hearing how he settles in and lots of photos please!!

Thanks - will be taking loads of photos! Its quite daunting taking on a new dog after 13 years with the last one (also a rescue dog) being so perfectly behaved. I've got to remember that he doesn't know how to walk on a lead, jumps up, and is totally untrained! But I love doing all that stuff so it should be enjoyable. :)

Why don't you DNA test him, get the real answer! Black Dog DNA do really good packs where they test the dog and provide yo with a result and a bundle of information on each breed characteristic and training tips that would be beneficial for you. Its costs approx and is well worth it!

These do not work. Several tests have been done of dogs of known & genuine lineage and the results have been spectacularly wrong.

I think lurcher is in there somewhere as well as lab. I'm not convinced there's collie purely because the coat is so short and the collie x I've seen generally have a longer coat.

Look forward to seeing some more photos of him :)
