Again!
I’m in my annual summer experimentation phase. They had a couple of bags of Arden Grange but all just lost weight on it. The older prone to weight gain ones looked good but the younger two looked poor and were being fed twice as much as they would be MWH.
I was recommended CSJ. I ordered the complete tripe (it smells awful) and they are all as fat as butter. T the special one is still on MWH.
The others are back on sensible portions and looking so much better. Poo a bit softer but not too bad. They’ll be back on the good stuff for the winter but I’m pleased with this to date.

Mine did really well on CSJ before we switched to raw so if we do ever go back to kibble I'd go back on it.

Ooh maybe we should consider CSJ for Ivy. She's doing okay on MWH Alert & Forerunner, the previous MHW mix (can't remember which one) didn't do so well for her but these mixes seem to be better. She is getting a lot of toppers with this though to help her put on a little more - raw eggs, sardines, and most recently some raw green tripe. Not sure whether to stick with the MWH and toppers or experiment with a different kibble.

I have been using Autarky white fish and potato - one of mine can't have rice and it's in everything so it seems! At £36 for 12kg it's a saving on the £76 price tag of eden that they used to have! They look fine on it too...come the working season I think I'll just add some green tripe and beef mince and see how we go.

I fed CSJ years ago (can't remember which variety) but I wasn't that pleased with the results I don't think as I swapped. Can't remember why now though. I like Simpsons Premium and my lot have been on it for years.

I actually recently bought a bag of JWB for a change for them but their poops aren't anywhere near as firm so will just try a different variety of Simpsons next time.

It’s heaps cheaper then Simpsons premium. JWB is expensive too I think? I’m not sure they’ll be on it forever but it’s certainly worked for weight gain.

Are you following the feeding guidelines? I re-read the raw thread on the other dog forum and decide to pretty much ignore the guidelines. I’m going by eye.

I feed the disgusting stinky raw muck Nutriment. It makes me gag putting it in her bowl but she’s thriving. No stinky poo or diarrhoea. Minimal farting and a fantastic glossy coat. Energy levels too high! At least I know it’s not because she’s full of additives!

Another who feeds Simpsons Premium with a slice of Naturo wet food. I keep looking at cheaper options but can’t find anything that compares.
Quite a few people with flatcoats feed Arden Grange successfully but I am not impressed by it ingredients.

Well the usual thing on cheaper food and softer poo. Ffee has started licking her bottom. I’m going to wing it and give her MWH one meal and CSJ other.
Chiffy, as for Arden Grange, they did look good on it but it just didn’t seem to be calorific enough for the skinnies.

Depends on the mixes. We were looking at the AG Prestige and Performance mixes recently and they were higher cal. Didn't go for it in the end as needed something we could pick up on the day because I didn't order the MWH in time. Plus what we're doing with toppers seems to be helping steadily increase her weight so wasn't sure about leaping up so much with the cals.

When you look at the ingredients there is no comparison. I will stick with the Orijen for our dogs.

I don’t think it’s quite fair to compare it like for like. Of course Simpsons premium and orijen are better, they are over twice the price.

Dr John Titainium is looking more interesting at £19.99 a sack as the cost of living esculates...Ironically it contains more meat than Royal Canin and no rice!!

For sure and honestly I change feed a lot, and use what's on offer with a short date too! Just rooted through the dog room storage to see what is in stock - Skinners Lamb and Rice, Skinners Duck and Rice (won at Crufts), Redmills Racer and Redmills Tracker (working test winnings), James Well beloved Turkey and Rice (€15 for a large sack, short dated with BB of end of May), Euknauba Giant Breed Puppy (Client's pup) and Purizon Lamb (the high maintaince princess with true beef, chicken and wheat intolerances). When there's 10+ here economy and using what they win is sensible and just accomodating the ones that need something different!

A lot of keepers feed it, it’s always being recommended! Under £20 scares me a bit ?

All of mine are on CSJ Complete Tripe. Even the puppy, who is meant to be on Arden Grange, would rather eat the CSJ.

I had considered giving them 50% Redmills to try and save some money as have friends who use it whose dogs seem to thrive.
