I saw a woman at the vets yesterday picking up omeprazole for her dog, I wonder if it’s worth investigating? I’d only ask if I was going anyway I think.
Thinking about buffering how about giving her a small meal at bedtime? In case it is ulcers? Scout gets a bedtime meal to keep his weight up.
With different flavour /ingredient kibbles check the calories per kg, or however it’s measured.

I had a dog who had bilious vomiting syndrome. The gap between evening meal and breakfast was too long for him and he needed a snack before bed.

Ivy might have the same and feel nauseous without the vomiting.
We do 7am, 5pm and 7.30pm (or thereabouts) - three meals as we were working on weight gain when we first got her and I read smaller meals could help, then we've just kept it going. Will try a later meal.

For the snack is that another small meal or something else?

Scout has a small extra meal. SD may recommend different.

He was fed two meals a day and a snack before bed but as Ivy is fed x3 meals you could try moving the third to nearer bedtime or if you want her to gain weight leave at 3 meals and add an extra snack (food is fine)

Try different combinations and see what works best for Ivy.

An extra small meal will do no harm, she's certainly not overweight so we could do it as an extra.

It's definitely one of those wish they could talk moments. I can't work out if she's saying she's a bit bored of her food, nor hungry, or not feeling quite right.

Don't worry about feeding the same food every day, mine survived. They all ate the same kibble with a forkful of tinned Butchers tripe to liven it up or sometimes a raw egg or sardines.

Things only changed for my last dog because of his food allergies.

The big girl is raw fed but I wouldn't hesitate to put her back on kibble if necessary.

She's doing okay, still a bit 'meh' about coming down for breakfast although did eat it when I brought it upstairs! Dinner she is more enthusiastic about. She will eat the kibble dry although prefers it moistened so we can stick with that. The other day I opened a tin of tuna and she came flying down the stairs; I have no idea how she knew some of it was going to go in her bowl :D

She's not looking any thinner but we will weigh her this week when we go to pick up her next round of flea and worm tablets. I'd like a little more on her if we can as I don't think she's gained where she dropped off a bit with the food change but I'm not too worried as long as she doesn't lose more now she's back on her regular food.

Still not going for the fish skin chews she's previously really enjoyed but did really go to town on a pig's ear the other day. I think it must be an effort to reward ratio that she's re-evaluated now she's realised we really aren't going to take any of her food away.

Still not going for previously enjoyed things like banana but that's not too much of a worry, I can use other things for Kongs and Lickmats. She absolutely loves tinned/wet food!

I forgot to say in my update that I have implemented the later second dinner. I'm not sure if it has made a difference but it seemed sensible to do anyway and I hope Ivy prefers not having such a big gap between second dinner and breakfast. It did offer some reassurance around her appetite because a couple of times I've left it too late and she has had to come and remind me to serve second dinner. At least I know she is keen to eat even if she is wondering where to get good staff these days!

That sounds very sensible. She’ll get you trained yet, calm and consistent says Tawny. (Lying here on the bed while the rest are downstairs or kennelled).

Bless her! I just saw your post about Tawny's eye, I hope she is feeling better soon.

Ivy is so polite in how she asks for stuff but also quite clear about it. We used to have freezing on walks due to fear and while there is some of that around depending on where we are, mostly we now have 'conversations' (aka standing on opposite ends of the lead each pointing the way we want to go) about which walk route we're going to be taking. If we go somewhere and set her lovely comfy bed up in the 'wrong' spot she will squeedge herself into ridiculously uncomfortable looking spots and/or whine and scratch until the bed is moved and then all is well. She's been so timid it's actually quite nice when her character comes out like that, even if it can be a bit annoying too. When I first posted she'd stopped bimbling into our room in the mornings to say hello/rub herself along the bed like a cat but she has started doing that again which I think is a good thing as she seems more upbeat about getting up and having breakfast.

Further positive pupdate!

I am wondering how much the warm weather made a difference to Ivy's energy levels and appetite. She's also had a week holiday with my mum (the longest we've been without her!) a few weeks ago and has been bouncier than anything since she's been home. I think she has the absolute best time there, and even a bit too comfortable as it sounds like she was getting a bit bossy/sassy with my mum! Ivy's eating all her meals with gusto even when they are just plain kibble, definitely not pleased to wait longer for the later dinner, and is back to getting me up for her breakfast every morning.

Weight is good too, we weighed her in a pet shop in the end as not so easy to get over to the vets and she's still above 27kg (I think she was 23.5kg when we got her nearly 2-years ago) so no concerns there. She still won't go for the fish skin chews we bought her (annoying!) but been stuck into her kongs and ostrich bone again.

Gratuitous noodle-spam just because... (one of her holiday snaps from my mum's garden which is much nicer than our concrete 'yarden')
