Dog had stitches...question

On Tue we had our new dog neutered and also had his hind dew claws removed.
His hind legs were bandaged and he was back at the vets this morning to have his bandages taken off. He has 2 stitches in each leg, but he has licked one leg whilst I was out with the ponies this afternoon and pulled the stitches out. The wound is clean and not bleeding but looks quite deep. Should I take him back in the morning to get it restitched with it being so soon after being done? Or could I just bandage it myself for a couple more days?
Obviously he is not allowed out in the yard or field where he could get dirty for a while.
His other leg is fine, so are the stitches where his bits were chopped.
Oh and before anyone suggests it he can't have a collar on to stop him licking cos he has issues with collars, he has been hurt round his neck (he was a rescue dog) and freaks if you try to put a collar on. It took about 2 hours to get one on in the beginning, he lets me put his lead on and off ok now but he is still scared of the collar being put on and off.

I would pop him back to the vets to be on the safe side.

Flippin' dogs!!! Mine had a buster collar on and I still had to kip on the sofa to stop him trying to worry at his bits all night!

Is this the one from the 'interesting' rescue or another one?

Yes this is the one from the "interesting" rescue. (I informed some relevant people about the place so I don't know whether they will have received a visit yet). He was such a brave boy and let the vet take his bandages off too, on Tue when he went in he attacked the nurse

Well done for persevering with the collar and lead thing, keep plugging away.
For future reference, maybe you could borrow a very small buster collar from the vet and try de-sensitizing him with that and then build it up? Just in case, God forbid, he needs to wear one again some time.

You could try putting him in a comfie muzzle to stop him licking the wound, the vet should be able to supply something suitable. Many dogs accept these far more easily than the big bucket collars. It is prob too late to have the wound re stitched but the vet may want to put a dressing on. Not sure why they took off the hind dew claws, they very rarely cause any problems.
