OH has made a dog harness, it's not live on the web yet, wanted to post a link to a dead page for folk to look at the pictures (I can't upload them here as the pics aren't on my laptop).

What do you guys honestly think? Is it the right kind of thing folk might want? He was toying with the idea of putting a sheepskin pad (ala 5 point breast plate) on the breast part of it....

So, thoughts?

I`m assuming the harness is designed for use as a walking harness.

We`ve used a variety of harnesses over the years......... x back harnesses to race the huskies and walking harnesses for use when they are pups pre race training.

THe design you have is my personal preference for walking harnesses however the ones I have always used are fabric webbing based for comfort. I would recommend some kind of padding around the harness..........especially for use with the shorter coated breeds as the furniture used in the construction of the harness could potentially cause chafing and abrasions.

It is a lovely item

..but.... if I'm honest I'm not entirely sure who would buy such a lovely thing?

IME most people who keep adult dogs in harnesses are either the owners of dogs who pull, or those who slip their collar. Therefore these owners tend to favour the tension/release system found on most conventional material harnesses.

Lots of people use them for pups, but spending £90 on something they will outgrow seems quite frivolous- to me anyway

I may be mistaken but I'm not sure who else uses harnesses in a capacity where having such a nice leather one would be required?

...I will of course stand to be corrected

Tracking people will pay money for a good harness or a system of two loops connected by a back strap, which a tracking line will feed through.

Try talking to Schutzhund clubs as I mentioned before. A lot of people have to go to Germany for leatherwork because the sport is more popular there.
