So our 1 year old border is in season for her 2nd time. Last time she was fine, had one night where she was very shaky, but fine about 30 minutes later.
I just got in from work and picked her up to give her a cuddle and she was squeaking/groaning so put her down. She didn't move, head was very low and just generally looked sorry for herself. V. tense tummy also.
Is this normal? Our other bitch didn't experience any of this (now spade at 4 years old).

My Lakeland has just finished her first season. She is 7 months old. Never had a bitch before but several people told me she would be 9 months+ before she had her first one

Called vet- thoroughly unhelpful. "I have a 1 year old bitch on heat who is shaky, very tense tummy, not her usual self" "so does he look depressed- probably just bring him in in the morning"

This is why I am trying to find a new vets! She will sleep in my bedroom tonight and will go to the vets in the morning.

Stevieg- she had hers at about 7 months and another one now- shes about 13 months now. I posted to find out if it was normal as I thought she was v. young but was reassured that it was ok!

My border only had 5 months between seasons, so 2 by 12 months would not have been impossible.

She is now (as of this afternoon) spayed aged 2 years and 9 days. I would have had her done sooner but she suffered from a phantom that put hold to it. The fear of pyo was just too horrible for me to bear any longer.

Hopefully she is just feeling a bit poop, if so it is probably kinder to have her spayed after this season so she isn't sore again (and you get your BT cuddles!)
