Could some of you kindly recommend the best company to insure her with
smile.gif

Canine Puppy does not have insurance as the premiums and restrictions for an eldery alsatian are crazy
crazy.gif
However, Star is insured with petplan, Believe with NFU, and the cat with Tescos... Do NFU do good dog policies that would take into account you already having one animal insured with them?
smile.gif
Given that she is a cross breed (Springer x Patterdale) is is vet bills that are my main concern, (not her value...)

Also, in case it has any relevance to the decision, we hope/plan to have her all passported etc so that she can travel to Jersey and France

Thank you in advance

Have a look at Virgin, i have 2 sharpei (notoriusly hard to insure) and they have been brilliant and cheap. Full lifetime cover in london for £26 pm.

Petplan are the best, but expensive. Our Lab is with Direct Line - but get a policy with life cover for a given condition, as these are still available for dogs.

We insured our bt pup with Pet Plan I asked for a deal because the cat is with them and they gave me the first 3 months free and knocked a couple of quid off per month from the quote ! so worth asking for , they are very friendly and helpful
smile.gif
, your new puppy is beautiful x

PETPLAN...they deal direct with your vet re claims so nothing but excess to pay, they are one of a few insurance company's that you vet will deal with direct without up front payments from yourself, they cover behavioural issues, and they cover ailments for life.

Thanks for the advice so far all.

I missed the post that you'd chosen one! How exciting
laugh.gif
I bet you can't wait to egt that little cutie home

None of my dogs are insured

They tend to back off when you say two of them are gundogs. Ho-hum.

Ahh, well although this little lady shall hopefully be doing some bushbeating, I don't think she can really be classified primarily as a "gundog"

I am quite curious if anyone knows how my plans to have her able to travel to Jersey and France should effect any policy or the company I chose?
smile.gif

Thanks. H x

Oh yes! I definitely approve. Adorable. It must have been difficult with the two of them being so cute. I hope Canine Puppy likes her
smile.gif
Have you decided what to call her?

VERY!!

I thought I was going to pick the other one to start with, but our little lady was so much more friendly and waggy when the other one was a little quiet.... Like you said to me beforehand, she chose us!!
grin.gif
With both me and my mum, she climbed up our chests to lick us on the neck and squeak in our ears - the breeders said they'd never seen her do that before!!
grin.gif
I felt the decision was out of my hands at that point...

So do I!! It is canine Puppy's big 10th birthday on Sunday
laugh.gif
when we collect her new sister, and in those 10 years I'm not sure I've known her dislike anyone, or even look at anyone badly
grin.gif
so I am quite convinced she will love the new arrival,
smile.gif
although she may be a little confused to start with!

Got it down to a potential three or four names I think...
crazy.gif
Might save the decision till spending a bit more time with her on sunday
laugh.gif
Oooooh, hurry up Sunday!!
mad.gif
grin.gif

We shall be having a birthday/welcome party on sunday and Dr Weevil is coming to take pics, so brace yourself for a bombardment of them!!
grin.gif

She did definitely want to come home with you then
grin.gif

Canine Puppy sounds like she does get on well with everyone (I remember you saying in a previous post when asking about pups) so I'm sure she will love her just like we all will! She'll probably play mummy to her. A big happy birthday to her for Sunday as well
grin.gif
My old girl is coming ten later on this year as well
smile.gif

Can't wait for all the piccies though, especially ones of Canine Puppy as I have seen very few oh her
mad.gif
so make sure DrWeevil takes lots and lots of her. Don't forget all the candles on her cake

Don't worry, there will be lots and lots of both girlies
smile.gif

I'm a little sad, I can't give puppy a cake, or ANY of her old favourite treats anymore now she is on such a strict diet...
frown.gif
No more pigs ears or sausages....
frown.gif
She's got lots of nice newish beds dotted around the house, a smart collar, lots of nice leads already.... I can't think what to buy her

Aside from a little sister

Sorry - any condition which occurs - cover for the life of the dog/duration of condition - if you continue the insurance you don't get exclusions basically.

im with halifax..always paid straight away...ive caim several times with one of my dogs who had a spinal injury and had to have mri and had to go to a specialist vet clinic
